And yes, certainly this forum has played a huge part in my sobriety journey. I do so appreciate this app, community and all the members…including so many who have left for one reason or another. Together we are stronger.

34 months sober here, about 32 months on the app. Done with every tool I could find from IOP, AA, therapy, physical activity, meditation, pure spite and of course this great app.

Having a sober community, be it here or AA or SMART or Dharma is huge. Do it together, don’t go it alone, you’re not alone.

I agree community is all and togetherness is key. Alone it’s too much. We learn from each other and we’re strong together. I quit a week after I joined TS and have not looked back. A couple of months AA and NA have been very helpful but this is my place for nearly 18 months now.

Community is huge. I love the Community, it does nothing but help from helping others attain sobriety to celebrating milestones and joy in sobriety, and of course the humor here isn’t everywhere, some of these fine folks are twisted just like me so I get it and I laugh.

I joined the app when I was like 35 days sober, simply for the day tracker, I was stacking days and it made it easy to keep track. Then I found the forum like 10 days later and dove in, been part of my sober system and routine ever since. Checked in every single day for over a 1000 days, been sober all those days too so I won’t look a gift horse in the mouth… I’m here to stay.

I can relate to the white knuckle experience in AA.
I told had the thought that others can do it without so it might work for me? I stayed sober for 4 yrs without the Steps and just used the people in the rooms I meet to form a good sober social network. Done well I might add but never lasted for me. I have been doing sobriety with the steps and its been amazing. Now I know how to apply to my daily living.

We sacrificed everything for our addiction… How far would you go for a better life?. If you enjoy the people in the rooms? Why not do what they do? What do you struggle with regarding the Steps? I’ve been there so no judgement just curiosity.

This app definitely helped me. I had a rocky start but came through it with the help of you guys and AA (sorry I know it’s the topic “staying sober without AA)

You certainly were not the first with a rocky start. :hugs:

That picture is disturbing. Lol

I went back and read some of the older posts on this thread! What a blast from the past! The true OGs is TS

Wow, I guess so. I did notice a trend going back and looking at the users though. There are a lot more AA users still posting here than non AA users. I Joined in 18 didn’t get long term sobriety until October of 19 though.

Here’s what I think on this topic. You can get and stay sober without AA, so far I have, and my obsession is gone but it took a long time. I took the hard way, built a house without power tools.

Think of a recovery program as gps in your car showing you the fastest route, with speed traps, construction, and detours along the way. Think of going at it alone like traveling with just a road map, on the back roads. You can get there either way but I’m pretty convinced that 1 way is a probably a little better.

Where’s your sense of adventure?
Don’t they say it’s more about the journey than the destination?
:joy:
