Struggling with cravings 1 year on

Hello everyone, I’ve been sober from Opioids for just over a year which I thought was impossible at the time, so I’m very proud of myself for that.

What helps with cravings? I haven’t suffered at all with them till about 2 weeks ago.. it’s horrible. I know I won’t relapse because I have so much to lose it’s just getting the feeling of being high from them off my mind for a while again.

Thanks!

Get busy, distract yourself, go for a walk - whatever you like: Always remember - this will pass. Everybody has been there. Stay strong

Some people call it milestone malady. When you come up to a big anniversary your brain tries to trick you into relapse. Good job calling it out here. Resist those urges and keep moving towards your best sober life.

I am glad to hear this term Trusty, I have felt a funk these past two days. It is like the feeling of going back to work after an epic vacation.

Hi @Pete17 welcome to the forum.

It’s a real thing. I can usually tell my anniversary is coming up more by feel than by the timer.
In case no one has told you yet today, don’t go back. Only forward.
