2 days ago i got drunk abroad, took a lot of other substances and cheated on my partner… i do horrible things when i drink because i cant stop.
Im really struggling with the shame and feeling like im a bad person who doesnt deserve to be around anymore.

Welcome @Tee55 im glad you found us. This place and AA have been crucial to my sobriety.

I know that guilt and shame so well. Im sorry you are experiencing that. I would encourage you to put as much time into your recovery as you put into your addiction.

I can relate :100: There’s a terrible person who dwells within me who does disgusting things I’d never dream to. Fortunately she’s only activated by alcohol. As long as I continue to say ‘no’ to the only drink I can, the first one, she won’t be making any appearances anytime soon.

I was going to suggest AA to deal with the guilt and shame of the past, but it looks like you’re already ahead of me :+1: The ruminating I was doing for monthes is what finally pushed me into the rooms. They showed me ways to let go and move on from the past. AA, as well as this community, changed my life. I hope you can find your peace  Wishing you all the best in your journey :green_heart:

Hola. I’m new here as well. I’m hitting 30 days tmrw. Been on this wagon for a long time. But I know your words because I too was the same. The guy I turned into when I got like that, his name is Charles. Charles is buried in the ground for good. All it ever took was that 1 dang drink and all cares went bye bye. If you knew me in real life and then met Charles, you’d be really fricken shocked! The guilt goes away in time. Stick with those meetings. They’re helping me and being here is awesome. When you’re thinking about that drink, think of that other you you’re about to unleash and think if they will survive the actions next time. Stick around with us
