Taking subutex/suboxane in recovery

I am on subutex and I love it. It works to reduce my cravings and it stopped the withdrawals. I go to group three days a week and I love the structure of it. Soon I will only have to go one day a week and I’m scared because it will be less structured. I just want opinions on what people think about everything. Btw I’ve also been clean 100 days

I’ve been off heroin for a year because of suboxone (and later subutex), and I honestly think it saves lives. It gets you out of the situation where you’re dealing with dope dealers, risking arrest and jail time, and you don’t have to wonder what you’re buying - you just go to the pharmacy and pick up your nice pure prescription medication.

But you have to have a plan to quit taking it eventually. I’m here because I’m addicted to subutex and trying to quit taking it. If you don’t taper off and you just keep taking it indefinitely, you’re still addicted to an expensive waste of money and you’re not truly clean. The withdrawals from buprenorphine (suboxone/subutex) are much longer and drawn out than they would be from heroin or pain pills. I think it’s a great thing but it needs to be used as a transition back to sober life and not as a new lasting addiction.

You should also try to take as little subutex as you need to stave off withdrawals. The higher your dose and the more frequently you take it, the harder it will be to quit and the longer your sub withdrawals will last.

I’m detoxing off them I’d stop now

Your not clean on subutex placing one drug for another not trying to be mean or anything just the truth that’s what I did
