Im right there with you im actually going to start tonight jotting down some ideas i personally love the pain that the needle gives when its tattoing you dedifinitly has a good smell to it i appreciate you sharing let.me know when you get some more i would like to see what you get
Preach! Thanks for explaining it so well!
i have 5. I got them all between 17-22 yrs old (Iāll be 32 at the end of the month).
If I could, Iād have 4 of them gone. If I can think of a good way to cover them up, I mightā¦ removal is too expensive. Not only do they not carry much meaning for me, but I went cheap on them and it shows. You donāt have much cash when youāre that young and most of your money was reserved for beer. They represent a time in my life Iād rather forget (college years).
But yeah, I havenāt gotten one in 10 years because of it.
I have always wanted to get one ādumb tattooā, somewhere not as obvious as my 5 I have now (all on my arms). Usually Squidward comes to mind.
I have 2. A butterfly on my shoulder blade that I got 30 years ago and a sister tattoo on my wrist that I got a month ago. I think thatās probably it for me. Iām too old. lol
I do love to admire otherās art work though.
Iāve a few that I got years ago that didnāt mean anything. First time I got sober a few years back I got a compass with an anchor to symbolise direction and grounding and a light house as a warning. Well that and I really liked them. Then I had an idea for a gothic tower so too that to my tattooist and thatās the one with the skull, was also the one that took the longest, there is a sands of time on the back, kind of hard to get decent pics of them
I have a snake with stars wrapped around it, the head is on my ribs, the tail ends behind my knee, and the stars carry on to my little toe.
I have writing on my collar area that when I stand in a mirror says āIt is all temporaryā.
I have a full sleeve of my favourite film characters, Batman, Gia, Heather Ledgerās (RIP) Joker, and Harley Quinn, all in black and grey.
I have 2 on my hips that I got when I was 15 and drunk that I wish I didnāt have bcuz they are just off the wall, one is 2 hearts, one with devil horns, the other with an angel halo, and the other side is a Sun.
I had another on my outer right thigh that I have had removed but IMO it still needs more laser, but I have nerve damage in that area now and Iām scared because the laser hurts so much more than tattooing, I have to use numbing cream for laser but I enjoy getting tattooed, or atleast I did, Iām not sure how it would feel now Iāve got Fibromyalgia, pain feels much worse these days.
I really love yours! That shading is exactly the same as what I plan on getting whenever I do mine. I love the theme too.
First one a piece sign on my left back shoulder. Pa had us all do some time in the military when we where younger (heās a volunteer officer and thereās a special unit you can join when youāre young here) I didnāt like the army rules better than the churches rules so as soon as I turned 18 I made it as a promise to myself to never go out to war no matter what.
Kids drawing on ny right upper arm, the first drawing of ārealā people my now 18 y/o did when she was a toddler. Sheās a special need kid so it was a big step for her and it came a long time after kids usually does that kind of drawings.
The five elements in Chinese on my lower right arm, made to cover up an ugly scar from a bad abuse TRIGGER Warning (the abuser literally cut his name in my arm) it didnāt covered it all through and is pretty badly done, and it reminds me of other bad things so Iāve been wanting a cover up for years. But at the same time itās like bittersweet because itās a part of me.
I have 7 tattoos. The first after the brake up with my ex 25 years ago. He hated tattoos and said he would brake up with me if I took one. So when we split up I knew what I had to do
Iām almost 53 years old now and having a full sleeve tattoo on his way (blackwork). Iām halfway there. Have a half sleeve at my right arm too and a full back piece tattoo.
Iām going to be that crazy old lady with the tattoos
Ha ha you like me, my friend tried to get me to have one I kept thinking of the pain, it was walking in and out if the shop
So far just 1 on my right arm spelling my sonās name in old Celtic alphabet. Plan to get another one of my 2nd sonās birthday next to it. If I have another child, Iāll get another one.
The alphabet I used
Both of my tattoos were a collaborative effort with my husband, where we discussed the concepts and both drew sketches, though he did the final drawings. We both have slightly different versions of each design.
First was under the forearm: The design represents symbols that come from our ancestral heritage that have meant something to us personally, that we then put together to represent our union in marriage. The spirals and āwingsā of the tattoo are inspired by indigenous art of ancient Mexico (my side) and the meaning I find in spirals found throughout nature, and the center design is based on Norse runes (husbandās side) that we drew together on the day of our marriage.
Shoulder: This design represents our four pillars for a balanced life, which can be distilled down to consumption, action, release/rest and attitude (the red portion). These are ideas we developed over the early years of our marriage as we discussed how we wanted our life together to be. We strayed from these ideals, but are coming back to them, and itās a big part of why Iām working on my sobriety now.
Consumption - what we put in our body and mind, who we associate with, what we read or learn or absorb from media, etc.
Action - what we do with our body and mind.
Release - how we decompress, quiet the mind, and rest. How we make āspace.ā
Attitude - how we set our intention to live the life we want, how we envision the future, how we frame our thinking to strive for those things. Attitude is the cornerstone, itās putting you āinā it all.
I have 8 tattoos all were basically from different meaning points in my lifeā¦
I have 2
Left arm a military version of me with a inscription of my grandmotherās name very American traditional style.
Right arm I have the pearl jam stick man i was young and let a friend scratch it on me, it aged well, but was poorly proportioned
