Tattoos or symbols

I just wanted to open a conversation about how people feel about or utilize symbols or emblems to show their sobriety or new lives or commitment to being sober. I read a bunch of articles online about why getting sober tattoos is a bad idea, and I didn’t agree completely. Then I looked up pendants and other jewelry that people might wear to symbolize their sobriety and commitment and mostly everything that came up was some form of the AA triangle.

Topic: What are some ways you outwardly symbolize your sobriety? Did you get a tattoo? Do you regret it? Do you wear jewelry or something else that symbolizes your journey? Does anyone have something they wear other than the AA triangle? Do you think symbols should not be outwardly worn for others to see? Any thoughts welcome.

Whatever you do, don’t get your clean date tattooed anywhere

Hah, no I would not do that. Though I have seen others do that. Sounds like a bad idea to me.

I am getting tattoos, that I wanted to get when i was I the service. Each one had a meaning for certain milestones…never had the money to get them…because I drank my extra money…to me they represent my sobriety too…finally I am able to get them…double meaning for me

What did you get?

That’s cool!

I am considering getting a tattoo of a Lockheed P-38 Lightening, which is a reference to my addiction recovery.

Little known fact. Germany had 1 p38 in its airforce. An America pilot, with German ancestry, went AWOL with his plane and flew it to a German airfield.
