Temptation at my workspace

I’ve been sober for over seven years, and I’m very proud of myself. Recently, I accepted a job as a spa director, where we offer complimentary champagne to our guests. However, I feel quite uncomfortable pouring champagne for clients. The aroma definitely tempts me, and I find myself trying to hold my breath when I open a fresh bottle because I’ve had intrusive thoughts about just sipping a glass.

Glad you’re here and welcome! If you have to be the opener or pouring, might consider a little vicks vapor rub in the nostrils. It blocks out unpleasant smells like a charm!

Great work on those years, too. We don’t need or have to drink ever again.

Congratulations on your new position and for being 7 years sober!!! That is a hard situation to be in and I understand how the smell could be tempting. Is there someone else you work with that could offer champagne to the guests. Not sure if you have shared your sobriety journey with your new coworkers. I would think someone would be more willing to help you. Do not let a sip of champagne destroy your sobriety, you have worked to hard. I believe being honest with your boss and coworkers is the best way to take care of this. You know that a sip will turn into a glass and your sobriety will be out the door. Keep us updated on this app and I will be sending you positive thoughts and vibes.
