Texting AA members

Hello!

When I get people’s number at meetings and they’re like text me! I interpret that as ‘hey man if you are gonna drink give me a text first’. Not having felt the immenent danger of a drink I’ve never texted anyone.

It seems like I misunderstood. Based on yesterday’s fellowship conversation, when people say text me they are saying ‘dont self isolate, reach out and ask how I’m doing. And I’ll obviously do the same. Regardless of whether or not you are currently craving a drink.’

Any input?

Text, meet up with, do what makes you comfortable. For myself personally the fellowship has become my family. I go out to eat with the old timers and walk the beach with several others. It doesn’t always have to be about AA you talk about, we have to all learn to live a life of Sobriety and it’s so much easier to do when you have those like minded individuals close to you.
I get texts from this one old timer and thought it was funny at first but now it’s nice knowing we are able to check up on each other from time to time and it always puts a smile on my face. So YES text.
