“The Cat Symphony, made by the Austrian painter Moritz von “Schwind in 1868, is the humorous depiction of a melody for violins in which instead of notes, numerous cats move across the paper. Now housed at the Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe in Germany.””
I visited the ‘Looks delicious’ exhibition at the Japan House in Kensington today. It was incredible!!! ![]()
Yesterday I also visited (contemporary art) Stedelijk Museum, on a whim, and saw the exhibition Unravel: The Power and Politics of Textiles in Art. No idea it was there and no idea what to expect. Never seen anything like it. Love it loads.
Went to Centre Pompidou in Paris with my mother, to see the surrealists exhibition.
The reproduction of this painting was on my wall when I was a student, I was so happy to see it in real life!

See this beauty every week when I go to a nearby town for deliveries and don’t get the chance to stop to take a picture. Had to find it online to share with you all…
That’s really appealing to me. Think I can afford it? ![]()
“Maynard Dixon (American, 1875-1946)
“Wide Lands of the Navajo”, 1945
Oil on canvas board; 24 x 38 in. ( 60.96 x 96.52 cm.)
Denver Art Museum, Colorado, USA“
Two works currently on display in Stedelijk Museum, in the exhibition Circulate, photography beyond frames which I visited last week.
Katja Novitskova, Earthware (Random Forest, Deer Kiss 03)
Anika Schwarzlose and Elena Khurtova, (part of) Residu. Personally interesting to me as it deals with the legacy of the former Eurometaal munitions factory just north of Amsterdam where in 1988 I worked the summer after I dropped out of university and I had not a penny to my name. This was the only job that paid cash after a week of work. A fine example of “Erst kommt das Fressen, dann kommt die Moral”.
I went to the ‘animals in therapy’ exhibition yesterday, in the Amsterdam Museum of the Mind. Very nice. I went especially for Louis Wain’s cats, 4 of which I share here. It used to be thought they show the progression of mr. Wain’s mental illness. But since they are not dated, now that’s no longer thought of as the truth. Love them anyway.
Thanks for sharing. It has been way too many years since I entered a museum. I need to make it happen soon for me.
