I haven’t a clue what’s going on…should I just quit?
Just follow along. You’ll catch on. I’ll walk you through it. Just respond as though you are your character. There are no limits on what you can choose to do. I just dont allow acts of extreme evil, Player to Player violence and other really bad stuff (hurting kids, etc.)
"Goblins chew and goblins bite .
Goblins cut and goblins fight.
Stab the dog and cut the horse,
Goblins eat and take by force!
Goblins race and goblins jump
Goblins slash and goblins bump.
Burn the skin and mash the head,
Goblins here and you be dead!
Chase the baby, catch the pup.
Bonk the head to shut it up.
Bones be cracked, flesh be stewed,
We be goblins! You be food!"
My elf sorcerer had to return home due to a village emergency. She’s up a tree right now …
(and I’m just watching the others play)
PC’s make Perception checks! Roll 1d20.
Yeah, just jump on in wherever you want!
The beginning is always a little awkward, just trying to work toward where we might all cross paths while introducing yourself somehow in the story.

Hippocrates is bored, wants to join in on all the action.
As the crowd begins to scatter and scream, Moritus holds fast like a massive boulder amidst the rushing water of a stream. He steps twards a crate and leaps ontop to gaze over the throng in the direction of the chanting.

The erupting tumult relieves Bastargre of the need to shy away from Gnamien’s question. He quickly turns his head around, scanning the scene.

Neither do I! That’s part of the game, you and your character only knows bits and pieces of the situation. Only @DungeonMaster knows what’s really going on. And you can’t really go wrong. It’s about creating a fun story and trying to achieve whatever goals you imagine your character to have, more than it is about always doing the exact right thing. People make mistakes, and so do characters.
I don’t really know what I’m aiming to do yet, and I’m making up my character as I go. As things go on, I’m getting more ideas.
Edit: Man, those rolls so far! I guess we’ve got our eyes peeled today.
(Now we’re talking!)
You all immediately follow the creature with your gazes to the underside of a wagon. Townsfolk are quickly fleeing the square. A goblin giggles while licking the dogs blood from off his chipped and rusted knife.
@Mtrav0040 From your vantage point you notice a group of goblins beginning to mobilize.
You guys are marked on the X, the goblins are circled.
Not wanting to face the goblins head on in case they attack, Bastargre tries to sneak over to hide at one of the food stands. As he does so, he also signals silently with his eyes to Gnamien to do the same at the other food stand. There’s no reason for Gnamien (@Matt) to listen of course, having just met, but it doesn’t feel right to Bastargre to just abandon him out in the open.
(Nice job with the annotations! Not necessary for everyone to do that. It helps picture things though!)
“Bless ye and many thanks, Father Tobyn, old friend…” The dwarf whispers a prayer of gratitude under his foul breath. Moritus reaches for his shield and mounts it fast on his left forearm. He belches as he hops off the crate and he hails the disgusting creature.
“Oy!” The slides the light hammer free from the loop on his belt. Shuddering at the sight of the poor mutt. “Bring that blade over here and let me show you how to walk in The Light…and the deep dark place you can shove that dagger.” Genuflecting mockingly.
Trav growls and strides over to the cart, reaching to drag the goblin out from under.
This is excellent, is it too late to barge in?
