Meryl Streep
Out of Africa
Robert Redford.
Paul Newman
I’m so impressed that someone not of my bloodline has seen that movie!!!
Too many times. Spent a fair amount of time on’ship and this was one of the movies they had.
George Kennedy
Ahhh, my parents are retired teachers and only let us see movies that they felt had social merit. I’m the only kid who grew up in the 80s who only ever saw Chariots of Fire, Mississippi Burning, Out of Africa, Romero, A Man for All Seasons, The Belle of Amherst, and A Lion in Winter. Seriously, those were on repeat most of my childhood. That’s it.
Saved you from a bunch of crap, and in the 80’s, there were a bunch of crappy movies, especially action movies, that usually were a combination of names which included a color, and some sort of powerful word and some time of day. Blue steel morning. Steel Justice Noon. Blue Steel Justice Evening. Red Vengeance Night. Justice and Vengence At Midday.
All had lead characters named Dirk or Sam or Tiffany or Chrystal.
The only exception was Red Dawn. Not crap.
I was hoping you would see Red Dawn for what it is. An absolute propagandist masterpiece. F’in commies
My favorite movie of all time. My wife’s fave is Dirty Dancing. Really, Red Dawn is just dirty dancing with guns and explosions.
It’s every teenage boy’s wetdream. We’ve all dreamed about hiding in the mountains and defending our town from the red threat
When I first saw it, it was my first year in the USMC. Saw it at the base theater. Took a female Marine on a date. She wanted to get cozy. I wanted to watch the action… The Soviets WERE the major threat, and who we trained to fight.
Did Red Dawn have Sean Connery in it?
Red Dawn is one of my top 5. I actually likes the remake as well. When I was growing up my dad taught us survival shit and I sooo wanted to be one of those dudes. Haha, girls can defend too!
Nope. Patrick Swazy. Charlie Sheen. Lea Thompson. Jennifer Grey. C. Thomas Howell.
Hated the Remake. Waited and waited for it. Saw it. Too much high-speed low-drag action. Couldn’t suspend enough disbelief to enjoy it.
You are thinking of Hunt for Red October, maybe? Another great flick.
You ever experience having a movie you paid money to see, at a theater, become the subject of an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000? I have. It is quite surreal.
The Dirty Dozen
