The Power is back

Hi there
The binge drinker from Switzerland is back. Some people maybe remind me, i was here two years ago.

Little short Update: I worked hard on the last two years and since then, i had some longer sober times, the best was 94 Days when i was going for the Marathon (finished😄) and some other longer periods without alcohol, but unfortunatley, i was never able to stop completley. Now, i’m trying a therapy with baclofen since September 7 and hope that will bring the freedom. Actually, im at day 7 and feel great. I hope, you guys are fine too, espacially @SassyRocks and @englishd.

Greetings

Hi there. Congrats, six days are a good start. Are you a binge drinker too?

I am just a problem drinker in general. I can be normal for a while, then it starts to snowball. I was drinking every day and often not even enjoying it. Not getting drunk every day, but often blacking out on weekends. I have 3 jobs and couldnt keep up with all that.

Welcome back @ThePower. Good to have you here and great job on 7 days. If you have done 94 before, you are clearly a strong person who has a lot of tools in their sobriety toolbox. The one thing I would suggest for you right now is a book. Alcohol Explained by William Porter. It’s available in audio on audible. It does explain alcohol very clearly in an easy to digest way. It has completely changed how I see alcohol and has made stopping and staying stopped so much easier and achievable. Since listening to it, 3 times now, I have joined the alcohol explained fb group and found 100’s of others who all found the same. Give it a go, it could be the thing that makes the difference. Stay strong :muscle:

Thank you all for your support. Fighting with cravings at the moment and this helps a bit. Hope it will be better tomorrow.

@Daphnecat Too much alcohol combinated with too much work? Be careful, i was in this situation…It ended in a burnout, depressions and in unemployment because i wasnt mentally able to work anymore at all for a long time…Wish you all the best and hope, you’ll find a better way out than me.

@Schmemm At the moment, i’m listening to a couple of sobriety podcasts, but i will have a look if this book is also avaiable in my language. So, thanks for your advice👍

@Mno Danke /Merci / Grazie😃
