Omg I was literally going to post this exact poll! When I moved to this province from another (Canada) everyone was calling it dinner … and I was like, do you mean supper or lunch? Lol they thought I was bonkers

Supper is informal. Dinner is when going out, celebrations. That’s the way I see it anyway

Tea is afternoon, dinner is evening meal, supper is a pre bed snack!

Although!! You can have dinner at lunch time on a Sunday for example! 
We don’t use tea at all, breakfast, lunch and dinner here, supper is an evening snack. I only use supper because I ‘caught it off Lee, he also says tea instead of dinner but he’s from Manchester.
