Notice how every one of my votes reflects this
Ahhh! I hadn’t… but yes, you are consistent
I didn’t vote in the first one. I’d like to think I’d call the police, but I’d probably check it out (not wanting to waste police time over nothing)
Dang, we have a 3 way tie here. Hopefully it gets broken soon, cause I’m shutting it down later tonight.
Uhhmnn … YOU haven’t voted yet
Edit: never mind, someone just voted
I’m just gonna point out that the choice is to look for a weapon. Doesn’t say that you find one or that it is effective. I voted to book it through the woods - at least I will die with the harness on my back!
Ahhhhh ! ‘Look’ I was doing the ‘playing the tape through’ thing. On here too much, obviously
Slide that into your boot (nice boots, btw), and look for something more long range, possibly explosive. Recall that the psycho has an axe and good aim.
I broke a metal leg off the chair. Easy since my adrenaline is running high.
We’re in the kitchen. I have a fire extinguisher.
I insert the chair leg in the kitchen door’s bar holders to lock us in the kitchen until the police arrive.
Done … next poll please
The Slasher Poll
Part IV
Frantically you search for something to defend yourself. Your eyes turn immediately toward the fireplace adjacent to the kitchen. Securing the fire poker held high in your hands, you slowly advance back through the kitchen toward the back door.
Walking into the kitchen you suddenly realize something off. You smell gas. The oven has been left on through the kitchen. Your gaze turns to the back door. Sitting behind one of the decorations is a lit butane torch. The gravity of the situation strikes…
- Rush to turn off the torch and oven.
- Turn and make a break for the front entry.

The Slasher Poll
Part V
A high pitched sizzling issues from behind you as you dash to the front door. An explosion issues from the back door areas and the sound of flames billowing through the ceiling of the kitchen.
You shove open the door and stumble out into the downpour as the windows begin to shatter with the heat. Turning back to view the house you see the side to your right explode outward in a billow of fire and smoke. The heat singes your hair.
You come to yourself and remember the stranger. A quick scan of the front yard reveals no other person aside from the body of your friend with the machete lodged deep into his/her back. You cant see far into the rain.
You must get help. The woods are not deep. Maybe a quarter mile to the road. You trudge through the puddles into the foliage, keeping a wary eye out for signs of movement.
The woods descend into a small ravine before ascending to the road. As you get to the bottom and begin climbing you slip on a wet branch under the leaves and roll your ankle.
You stuff the cuff of your sleeve into your mouth to stifle the cry of pain. Testing it out you find that you can still walk on it, but have a bad limp.
As you finally reach the roadway you look east and west for signs of a car. A few minutes of silence pass until the sound of a truck coming from the west, heading toward town. You flag them down. The truck passes you with a deluge of water, but then skids to a stop some way down the road.
You run to the passenger door and look up into the window. A middle aged man with a thick brown beard and a Carheartt jacket peers out at you. “You alright there?”
You hastily explain about the hooded person, how your friend was murdered and how the house expoded. Nearing hysteria, you explain that the murderer is still out there.
The man’s face displayed a mixture of shock and trepidation. “Well, let’s get you back to town so you can speak to the police.”
His gaze slid out of focus and centered on something further out on the roadway. You follow his gaze to see the hooded figure standing in the middle of the road in the light of the truck’s high beams.
“Stay here. Let me handle this.”
You voice your hesitation, but he holds up his hand to silence you while opening his jacket, revealing a side holster with a handgun in it.
He jumps out and walks forward. You hear him speaking, but cant make out the words above the diesel engine and pouring rain. You get in and close the door. You grip the dash and seatback with a vice like grip.
You make out the man pulling out his gun and gesturing for the hooded person to go away. They’ve been talking for some time now. It’s hard to gauge how long.
The man waves his gun off in the direction of town once again. There’s a glint of silver and the killer’s arm flashes out. The truck driver drops the gun and topples over clutching his chest, where a knife is buried deep.
You scream…
- Abandon the truck and head away from town, but toward the nearest neighbors.
- Get in the driver’s seat and try to get away in the truck.

I would first have dug the machete out of my friends lifeless corpse for protection and then after the truck driver was killed I would ruin the biggest over on the truck keeping my head at dash level to avoid the hail of bullets coming from the hooded man and his newly acquired handgun.
The Slasher Poll
Part VI
It doesn’t take long for you to recover. You throw yourself into the driver’s seat, yank the door shut and lock the door.
The hooded person steps toward the man’s shaking body and pulls the blade free from his chest. You can just make out a spurt of blood erupt from where the blade was. The figure turns toward the truck and begins walking forward.
You look at the truck’s front panel. It’s a manual. The shifter has 10 gears. You slam your foot onto the clutch and try to shift the gears down into 1st. A horrible grinding sound issues from the engine, followed by a giant lurch of the truck forward. The engine dies.
You look back up. The hooded figure is gone. Dread floods through your chest and up your throat. As you look back down to restart the engine the driver’s side window shatters in a hail of glass.
The figure is standing on the truck’s rail reaching in with a black gloved hand. You throw yourself onto the passenger side. The figure’s hand grasps your sprained ankle. You gasp in pain and kick at the person. After a small struggle, you make contact with the figure’s masked face, causing it to fall backward to the road.
You push the passenger door open and roll out onto the pavement scraping up your arms and hip. From under the truck you see the figure laying on its back. A quick scan reveals the gun a short way away from the figure. You also see that a light has turned on from the porch of a house up the road and down a small dirt road.
You could possibly reach the gun before the masked figure, unless it moved first. Or you could turn to the other side of the road, cut through the trees to the neighbor’s house.
- Make a grab for the gun.
- Run for the safety of the neighbor’s home.
