You go outside to see who it was. Your friend follows. When you get to the window, however, no one is to be seen.
You both laugh. “Oooooo, I guess it must have been a ghos…”
Your friend never finishes the sentence as the gleaming red blade of a machete erupts from their chest. Blood sprays across your face.
You turn to run…

Part III
You turn and sprint for the door hearing the thud of your friend’s lifeless body hit to cold earth. The heavy steps of boots sound in your ears some distance behind you.
Skidding through the door, you slam it and lock the dead bolt. You look out the window by the door and see no sign of the figure. You search for your cell, but must have set it aside while watching the movie. Panic begins to creep into your throat.
Suddenly you remember that your family keeps a landline here at the cabin in the case of power outages. In the kitchen you grasp the receiver and hammer in the keys. A short dial tone issues and a voice on the other line comes out, “911, what is your emergency?”
You breathlessly try to explain the situation about the hooded person and your friend.
“I’ve dispatched an officer to your location. Please stay on the line with me while you…”
The line cuts out. You hang up and try again. No dial tone.
You look out the window. It has begun to rain outside, picking up rapidly. The pounding of the drops on the cabins metal roof is loud.
You strain to listen over the rain and your heavy breathing. You hear the back door creak and the window rattles as it closes.
- Look for a weapon to defend yourself.
- Run for the stairs to lock and barricade yourself in the master suite.
- Run back to the front door, chance the woods and attempt to flag down a passing car.

I’m trying to figure out how to be loyal to how I’ve seen characters behave in these things. Maybe I creep to the back door to see what caused the noise, reassuring everyone I’ll be back in a sec.

No way I’m going into the woods. I did grab a kitchen knife once when I thought there was an intruder… it was a cat … I jumped so high and threw the knife. Hence me finding a room to hide in… and wait for death to find me
