Good evening to all! Hugs and much love to everyone fighting the same fight as me. If you are considering going to a Gamblers anonymous or alcohol anonymous meeting ? I would strongly recommend it. It has meant everything for my mental health and sobriety. Tonight I will be going to my 4 week of GA in person meetings in Mississauga Ontario Canada. First night, I was nervous, anxious and just not looking forward to it. Every single 4 meetings has been life changing for me. Just do it. Go for one meeting. You will thank yourself later. I’ve found it very rewarding to meet other gamblers who give each other advice how to stay away from betting. I can’t wait for tonight. The friendships and human connection is everything. My counsellor asked me, “what is the opposite of addiction?” . I said , “sobriety?”. She said “no, human connection”.

I was way over two years sober walking into my first AA meeting, but it has changed my life completely! Now I’m not just sober, I am making meaningful connections with people in the Fellowship. People who have shown me acceptance and unconditional love from the first day.
Thanks for your post, what a great share! ![]()

The fact that you want to go to GA or AA is a positive action. I attend AA and it has been such a good experience and has changed my life, will always be greatful. The club I go to has many different recovery meetings so that is a good place to start your search. I am a true believer that fellowship helps with recovery. Just a heads up that others who atten revovery meetings say it takes time to find the right meeting for you. I hope you find what you are looking for and most important get what you are in need of.
Keep us posted.
I appreciate your message. Others In my group have said the same thing about attending other meetings and seeing what fits well for yourself. It also helps to meet more people and find the right fit for a sponsor. For me, the location of my meeting is person and I don’t feel the need to drive far away for another meeting. How are you done with your sobriety ?. I’m over a month clean from gambling and alcohol. I have gone back to smoking marijuana almost daily , because it helps with my stress and to relax after work. I’m not beating myself up over it because stopping alcohol and gambling is a big success in itself.
