This time will stick

I’m Marty, Coming to the close of day 3 sober. This is my first time on this app, but not the first attempt at stopping drinking. Have previously done a couple month long stints but always went back harder than ever.
3 days I’ve done a few times but by day 7 I usually always go back
Its ruined my health and fitness and if I continue I’m going to leave my kids without a dad. I’m feeling positive that this is the beginning of my sobriety.

Same here, Marty! I’m happy with the support and stories here on the forum. Plus writing and being able to read back my posts (over the years now) is such a great insight. Happy 3rd sober day!

I am rooting for you. Also just downloaded this app and started Sunday with my decision to quit. It’s not a huge challenge to get to day 3 for me either but I keep saying I’ll stop and go back to it. WE GOT THIS! This is our chance

Welcome aboard, Marty. I love the title of this thread. I too tried to quit numerous times before I found this place, and it has been a lifesaver for me. I hope it helps you as well.:heart:

We can do it! I’ve restarted my clock as well today - frustrated with myself bc I gave in to peer pressure. Was it worth it? No. Do I have better skills to cope with the pressure next time? You betcha. I can turn it down and deal with the momentary discomfort / because it’s temporary.

This shift is permanent and I want to feel as good as I did two days ago, prior to the lapse! You know that good feeling, as well as I do, and we will be chasing that now!!

Thats good advice about the momentary discomfort of peer pressure. I’m skipping my work-do today as i know it’ll be pretty loose. Funny though i decided weeks ago that I wouldn’t go, I just knew I’d had enough

What always gets me back is habit. Changing those habits and working through the cravings when they pop up is what I’m focusing on for now

Thanks. Im glad your one was the last time. Well done on so many days!
This group is proving to be helpful I think. Have never done any support groups before, in person or online. This is good though.
