Thoughts on hypnosis?

I’ve downloaded an addiction hypnosis app on my phone. I’ve been using it for the past 4 nights. I have yet to use it while doing meditation, I’ve been playing it while falling asleep at night. They say you retain information you hear while sleeping & even reccomend to listen to school subject studies while falling asleep in order to help retain info…
What I’ve found is that it helps me relax to fall asleep much quicker than normal without even taking any melatonin. Also, and maybe it’s just in my head (but then again addiction is a mental fight), but I feel as though it seems to be having a positive effect. I havent used since starting listening to the hypnosis tracks at night… and the craving seems to be a lot less strong. The other day after I got done with work I thought of sitting at the bar and having a drink but the thought quickly passed. (Usually once the thought entered my head it was impossible to ignore or forget until I pounded down a few drinks. Which then always led to even more bad decisions and caving to other addictions.)

Just wondering what everyone elses thoughts on or experiences with hypnosis are?

@PatrickF I dont think anything is a silver bullet either, which is why I’m surprised at the impact this is having so far. Just another thing to add to my arsenal.

If you think it is helping you then it is helping you😉

Hi psequinn,

I also used hypnosis and I really think it helps me to think less of alcohol and coke and when I think of it, I immediately think, no I dont want/like to do that. I listened to different ones on Youtube. I still think it’s weird that I do wake up when he says that I can open my eyes. Which app do you use?

Youtube channel is: freehypnosissessions

How are you going now?

ps i’m 3 weeks sober now after drinking and using coke almost every day. I even think the hypnosis sessions helped me to NOT get craving moments. But I still have to be careful of course
