Does this friend know you are trying to remain sober? If they do and are supportive of you, I think you’ll find that they will understand if you cannot go. A week after I got sober, my family and I visited a very close friend who knew my issue (he was there the night of my last drink). He didn’t quite understand why I was getting sober, but supported me. In fact I found that all but a few supported me in a way I couldn’t have expected. For my birthday one year we had a sober weekend together going out and helping to feel like we didn’t have to drink to have fun.

Wondering how this all turned out? Did you listen to the collective wisdom of the group? Or did ya touch the stove to see if it was on?
