Todays Quote and A character defect

The past cannot be changed. The future is yet in your power. - Sober Time’s message for August 7, 2023.

The past has been a big stumbling block for me. I have held onto years of experiences that justified a poor and egotistical attitude. I felt wronged by so many! Some
Of them loved ones, family members. I had to make sense, or create some personal justice for they did.

Usually this became a mental trap to legitimize drinking. Which is like having a headache and using a hammer to stop it. The past is a weapon we use against ourselves. It’s a very very heavy burden that,
If we were just let go and trust our Higher Power, would lose it’s emotional sting.

Let’s learn to change our attitude towards our past today. It’s experience that shaped who we are to become today! Grateful, Recovering Alcoholics.

Thanks for his post! The last is gone, but letting it go, well, different story. I had a coworker who once told me often, “stop looking in your rear view mirror!”. Another favorite slogan I got from a coworker was, “let it go, Sparky!”. It was obvious to everyone around me how much I struggled with just letting stuff go. I STILL do🥴 but I keep working on it.
I remember a Buddhist monk who once said that if all he did was look at his past, he’d be filled with regrets. Not because he was all that awful, it’s just that’s what we tend to do. When we stare into our rear view mirrors, usually we are gonna see all the stuff we did and regret, or the stuff we think we should have done, but didn’t, leading to more regret!
