Today's the day for International Valentines

Every year I participate in a Valentine’s Day exchange. Today is the day that International valentines must get into the post. Some of you in this forum have even participated In this exchange. It’s so much fun! What are you doing for Valentine’s this year? Any hopes for love? Any fun or disastrous tales of woe? I haven’t had a romantic Valentine for years. So, I spread the love for my children and people across the globe.

This year I decided I wasn’t going to buy anything. I am only using things I find in my house, including past years’ valentines from other people.

So creative! I love it. I like to cook a nice dinner in for my partner. Without wine this year :slightly_smiling_face:

We usually do take out sushi or cook together at home to avoid crowds out at restaurants. No gifts, except maybe something edible like chocolate!

I do have fond memories of my Dad being my first valentine and the little poems he’d write on a V Day card. So sweet.

I have never heard of international Valentine’s Day, but I love the idea. You are so creative by refurbishing and recycling your Valentines.

The day isn’t International! There are 234 participants in the exchange, from all over the World. Some are from outside of the U.S., and those have to be mailed early to give them a chance to get there on time.

During early Covid days, I was still getting Valentines in May.

We always celabrate valentines day on a different day. I am not willing to brave the crowds on the actual day.

I am actually quite anti-holiday. They’ve all been over-commercialized. I still remember when there was only a four-feet little display in the grocery store for holidays.

It’s too much, too much waste, too much expectation. We tend to do unorthodox holiday celebrations around here. Christmas on New Years, which is awesome because you can catch after-Christmas sales. New Years in July. Whatever.

I like this event because it’s snail mail, kicking it old-school. I “meet” a lot of new people and get fun things.

I will be stealing this idea… Thank you.

Everything so positive, here! I was expecting at least one Valentine’s nightmare story. :face_with_monocle:

Just an aside: I am currently making 245 Valentine’s, if you’d like to be added, please send an address to my DM. They aren’t super crafty. This year I am really just shedding all of my Valentine’s supplies from previous years. I thought it was the 8th anniversary, but it’s the 9th - almost a decade of spreading joy in such a small way!

It’s still fun to get cheesy things in the mail.

If you are out of the US, it probably won’t come before Valentine’s. I plan to mail domestics on the 6th. If you think it’s fun, maybe you’ll want to participate next year!
