Okay Matt, nice to meet you.
Here’s my story:
My name is Jan, back in 2018 I tore off my shoulder during a strongman competition. Had a surgery and the doctor put me on oxycodon. That was my first meeting with an opioid.
Before that incident I never touched drugs or anything.
back to the oxycodon. I took that stuff for like 2 years.. I noticed that my intake grew and grew and that the shoulder pain was gone.
Went to the doctor and told him I wanted to stop the oxycodon. Little did I know, he told me it needed to be tapered slowly..
I thought yeah right.. so I stopped it abruptly. Man o man did I screwed up.
went back to the doctor and started a taper plan. Man that stuff was a nightmare to come off.
I was “clean” for 3 months but since I stopped with the oxy, I had a backpain that no specialist could find out. It was terrible (probably just PAWS from oxy)
So the doctor wanted to put me on oxy again. I told him I never wanted back on that stuff.
Then he suggested to take tramadol in combination with pregabalin.
And gone was my backpain. I took pregablin 2 years when I said: okay I want to stop this.
I cold turkeyed the pregablin and boy my mental state collapsed. I had very dark thoughts, my heart rate went sky high and I was so restless.
That symptoms lasted like 2/3 months before it slowly reduced.
When I felt “normal” I started to taper the tramadol intake from 400 to 10 mg.
At New Year’s Eve I took my last dose and here we are, 34 hours “clean” now.
I’m done with medicines man!
Thanks for reading my story
