Just in case an arbitrary change in the number we call the year is your greatest motivator for change.

I was never one for resolutions. Still aren’t. I have always kept my goals to myself and worked on them. Once I gained some mastery and confidence, then I would sometimes share them.

Goals are easier to accomplish when you are doing them for yourself rather than your Facebook following.

We do individual and family goals, every year, and for the most part we achieve them. Specific, measurable, achievable. Something like “Save $4k by June for OBX vacation in August.”

Love OBX. :+1:

I have today. Full stop. Whatever day today is.

Likewise, the whole “I’m going to wait until day X to get started” only seems crazy to me in hindsight now.

Like… If something isn’t going so great, why put it off till tomorrow? That can be X more days of things being better!

I got DUI #4 on 12/30/99. I had court docket case #1 in 2000 in my county (1-1-00). Oh yeah, good times!

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts it’d be Christmas every day.

If only we could control everyone and everything our lives would be perfect. If only people responded the way I want… If only people gave me the advice I wanted to hear. If only if only if only. The classic alcoholic thinking of trying to control everything.

Human thinking, not just alcoholic, we all want that elusive control over life.

I have hilarious stories from when I first tried to get sober. I told my first rehab what groups I was willing to do :joy:

I told my husband I couldn’t get sober with him still drinking.

I convinced my ex that if I could drink it would keep me off heroin.
