I want to try those!!!

I loved to drink on an empty stomach, and drinking with a full tummy is a no go for me. So, don’t get hungry.

I have my phone with the location-based games I play. I have my tablet with some really old games that I just re-downloaded. All things I can do instead of drinking.

I have my zen Buddhism journal and a planner I can easily get lost in.

I have a mini fridge loaded with monsters, cokes, sprites, gatorade, and h20 (all no-sugar varieties). A cold sprite in the afternoon has the carbonation I’m looking for, is kinda filling, and is also a distraction.

This app : ) The angst that people describe when they relapse is palpable. I don’t want to have to feel that and coming here and reading is a great motivator. I also track days and to have to start over would be embarrassing to my ego lol.

Understanding (also from here!) to "play the tape forward ". Meaning, if you think you want to drink play it forward, think about what will ACTUALLY happen if you drink. It’ll be shit!

Get some walking shoes and socks and put them where you can see them so you can go for a walk if a craving won’t let up .Or even if you just want to because walking is super fun and add in some great music, or a game you get “rewards” for walking and you’ll go far (ha!)

My sweets of choice lately: Hů salty chocolate, ice cream, sweet potatoes, blue berries (frozen or fresh). I have horrendous food allergies and those are pretty much the only cho i can eat anyway, but having them handy and ready to go means when I get hungry (I can go from not hungry AT ALL to 100% starving like that!) I will eat something and that’s good too.

Lots and lots of habit retraining. Lots of ceasing activities that I know will trigger me. Lots of looking at my life and really trying to get at the why.

I think those are on the top of my tool box. You look like you have a great start!

Thank you, a lot of good advice. As much as I try to stay positive, I tend to hide private thoughts. Honestly, I’ve been struggling quite a bit tonight, very anxious, thought of drinking to make it stop, but I didn’t take that step. I love your ‘Play The Tape Forward’ section (I don’t know how to quote partials yet, maybe I don’t have that option) but that helped me think, and I don’t want to go backwards. I haven’t passed a day 4 in over 10 years. I’m praying this is the year I do it.:hugs:

I’ve been eating a lot of fruit especially with summer here … I was eating a lot of apples. Now I’m eating these little oranges or tangerines or whatever they are. I probably eat three or four of these a day. They seem to help cravings, good for energy and I’m sure lots of vitamins. I buy most of my groceries on a daily basis. But I always keep fruit and I like watermelon juice…

I think they’re called Halo’s or Cuties, I used to love those. Super easy to peel. Adding to my shopping list, thanks!

Yes that’s what they’re called. They’re fairly cheap like four or five dollars for a bag. I got in the habit of just always having a couple with me in my book bag… They are good for if you feel like you’re crashing, for cravings, or whatever. Here lately I have realized that most of the time my cravings are related to being hungry or blood sugar… If I think of anything else I will post

I have to admit, i have developed quite the sweet tooth. I am trying to find a way to cut out the sugar but it has been so hard. I think my body craves it because it lacks all the sugar that I would consume from the bottles of white wine I would easily take down. Ugh!

I have tried sugar free Popsicles, seltzer water, water infused with fruit, iced tea(all flavors, and my drink of choice now when I am out). I also love those hydration packets like DripDrop and Liquid IV during and after the gym. I think they give me more endurance to push myself a little more during my hikes. And I love the flavors too…Def the grape. Hope that helps!

I’m in Australia and just googled to see what we call Halo fruit. Mandarins! Ours are in season right now too and are delicious.
Google also led me down a rabbit hole of information regarding oranges vs tangerines vs mandarins vs clementines :joy::joy::joy::joy::sweat_smile:
