TS Cycling Thread - Biking Sober!

It’s my only form of transportation but also it’s a hobby and I wouldn’t have it any other way!! It helps me clear my head And it’s free therapy.

Currently taking a little bike journey 20 miles to buy a specific book. I packed some hydrating drinks and food and if I have to take breaks I will. I’ll definitely try to post some photos if I see any cool scenery. Haven’t biked this far in a while.. Usually it’s three or 5 miles at a time

Edit: 30 miles

Was so exhausted when I got home and definitely got some sun .. probably to much sun :sun:

Hit a ton of PRs today on my ride :woman_biking::partying_face: I was aiming for 20-25 miles. A little after 20 I started to feel so tired and hungry. This nap I’m about to take is gonna be so good :zzz:

Says it was 15 miles one way to Barnes and noble so I guess 30 miles total today!! Definitely was worth it and glad I pushed myself. Took a lot of breaks so definitely was a lot more than an hour and I took a lot of photos and stopped to hydrate or eat

Congrats on your mileage today! That’s really awesome. Riding my bike is probably my favorite thing to do in my free time. When I finally got home today and walked into the air conditioning I about collapsed but totally worth it. I thought it was 10 miles one way to the bookstore I wanted to go to but turns out it was 15 and by the time I got halfway I was already committed and didn’t turn around. The only mistake was not wearing or bringing sunscreen. I filled up my water thermos thing four times as far as I remember. Every few miles I stopped at a fast food to fill it up Or added a hydration packet

Yea, I was totally unprepared. I had water and took a little apple sauce but I didn’t think I’d need much in the way of food. I love biking now but I’ve been doing shorter ones, like 5-7 miles. Lesson learned lol I think I’ll take a good ole PB & J next time. I also forgot sunblock :grimacing:

How many books did you get? Adding weight for the ride back lol 30 miles is awesome! I hope to get up there or more by the end of the year

Yeah I can understand how easy it is to be unprepared. All I brought was a granola bar and I can of Vienna sausages but I’m really glad I had that can. It seriously hit the spot about halfway into biking. I ended up getting an espresso iced coffee at the bookstore which I feel helped my energy with biking back.

I ended up getting the autobiography of this rap Artist Gucci Mane! I saw it online a couple days ago and I knew I had to get this. He was making some pretty bad choices even though he was making a lot of money legally with Music And then he was incarcerated for I think four or five years and he turned his life around afterwards and I really want to hear about that. Because that’s what I’m all about right now is rehabilitation and changing and doing the right things even if it’s harder to do it the right way or legally. To be honest I’m not too big on his music and he wasn’t one of my favorites but apparently the lady at Barnes & Noble said they have to keep re-ordering it because it’s selling out as soon as they get it or get copies. I’m sure it’s going to be a really interesting book. There’s no way it’s not going to be good. I still feel like I’m recovering from the bike ride so I don’t even wanna read right now lol.. But I will start the book tomorrow.

Also my mom suggested bringing those uncrustables because they can thaw out during the bike ride.. The peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that are in the freezer. I’m going to bring a few of those next time I have a long bike ride

That’s awesome! I thought about trying to find something more off-road like that as well but where I live is mostly city environment. The photo you sent reminds me of when I lived in Pennsylvania ..sort of… when I recently biked to this specific bookstore I thought it was only 10 miles one-way but it was 15 and I did pretty good packing food but next time I know what to bring more of ( protein) and also I should’ve wore sunscreen. I’m actually trying to think of where I want to bike to next in my city. I just have to be careful to not leave my county because I’m on probation. Where I biked to yesterday was almost to a different county but luckily I researched it.

It might be possible to bike to the beach but I’m not sure depending if there is a certain bridge I’m even able to bike over legally

I’d rather be outdoors riding my bike than just about anything else

Edit: Just looked it up it’s 23 miles one way to the beach! So that’s eight more miles one way than I did yesterday. It’s doable but I have to pack way more food

This is my goal next weekend! It would be 46 miles total. Yesterday I did 30 miles and it wasn’t too bad and now I know how to prepare better

I know I’ve been posting a lot on this thread recently but honestly I forgot there was a bike thread

Just doing some basic cruising around downtown today. rebuilding my energy for next weekend for another crazy bike Journey. I didn’t do any biking yesterday and the day before did 30 miles. So now I know I need about a day break after long distance biking!!

My legs feel strong after the day break.. like I didn’t even do 30 miles on Saturday

I’m so in love with my new bike I forgot to post some picks from Wednesday’s ride. It’s slower than my road bike which makes me ride it more relaxed. I don’t feel I’m in a competition with the other roadies out there. On the more technical parts of a ride there’s no room for speeding anyway, I’m busy balancing and taking care I don’t crash. Also this whole gravel scene is a bit more laid back, it feels more together than the road scene. And the bikefitting I did before putting it all together makes for a super comfortable ride. :people_hugging: :bicycle:
