Turning wine bottles into art

I’ve been into crafting since I started my sobriety journey. It has helped me to keep my mind busy and distracts me from wanting to drink. I never thought I would be making anything constructive with wine bottles. As my past experience with wine bottles have brought nothing but painful destruction. It’s been 30 days since I’ve touched a drink. Looking at this empty wine vessel is pretty liberating knowing that it no longer has a stronghold on me. Feeling pretty proud of myself.

I was out for lunch the other day with a large group. Four men ordered beer and the smell just overwhelmed me. I’m not used to this.

My grandmother apologized to me last week because she wasn’t quitting drinking with me, I laughed and said Gramma, at 91 years old you have earned the right to do whatever the hell you want! Lmao! I really really like your mosaic idea! I’ve held onto these bottles for years intending to do crafts with them, I didn’t get far painting so maybe I’ll have to give that a go!

Love the art! When we lived in Vermont, I would use old wine bottles for bottle trees…they were very pretty. We don’t do that here in Florida as it is a PIA having more outdoor things to move during storms.

Trust me there will come a day when you’re ok with it. I couldn’t look at a wine bottle 2 weeks ago.

Welcome. Since I quit drinking my imagination has been working overtime. Remodeled my living room a way of letting go the old area where the 6 pm happy hour destruction took place for years. Transformed it into a Zen room. With a rainbow of green tea selection. Namaste. Good luck on ur journey.

That’s super pretty!! I love what you did and I love the mosaic idea by @Becsta!

I did but the paint comes off SUPER easily so if I do it again I’ll have to figure out how I want to seal them.

Great idea. I may try my hand at creating a mosaic masterpiece. I will name it letting go. TY for the idea. Good luck on ur journey.

Years ago, I was friends with a little old lady. She lived in senior apartments. I’d take her out for lunch or have her over for Sunday dinner, since she had no family close by.

She made beautiful wreaths out of wine corks, and lamps out of wine bottles. I was her main supplier of materials. I was like a forest yielding wood for the craftsman. I still have a bucket of corks around here somewhere, that I was saving for her.

She’s long since passed, but her work still hangs in my kitchen

One of our old bottle trees.

This made me chuckle. But sadly I can relate to being the main supplier of cork material. I did the same for a niece that used wine corks for wedding centerpieces.
