Upcoming vacation and drinking

Don’t regret it, you said what you needed to say at that time. Sometimes the truth is ugly, but it’s often better not to sugarcoat things <3

I hope you’re well, it’s been a long time since I opened this app, there have been a lot of changes, mostly positive though!

Well I appreciate that, but I very much regretted you not feeling supported and leaving the forum. I hope my approach is less harsh these days. The forum has been a good learning vehicle for me…not just re: sobriety, but life and interacting…very helpful. And of course those earlier interactions were also while I was detoxing…and man, I recall that made me squirrely as shit.

It is good to see you back. Hopefully you are enjoying married life. Seems like it’s been quite a few years now. Positive change? Sounds…positively positive!

And yes, I am quite well 4+ years sober after 40+ not…proud of that. Just moved to a new state, stressed for months, settling back down now. All in all, life is very good.

It’s fine, I’ve got thick skin!

The marriage was a nightmare, he turned into the laziest, pisstaker I’ve ever had the displeasure of knowing. I got out (divorced him) and dodged a massive bullet.

Since then I have met a lovely Taiwanese guy, seldom drinks and has stopped completely to support me. All is well, so far so good

@SassyRocks Wow, I cannot imagine you being harsh.

I also would not drink on holiday. It might be ok. Equally, it might be ok if there are 5 chocolates and one of them has a piece of shit in it. Maybe I could have one and be OK. But knowing me, I would eventually eat all of them, and end up eating the shit.

Hey @SassyRocks, I was Surfinbird. Please don’t feel bad about expressing your opinion or the way you got your point across. I know it was coming from the right place.

I’m happy to say that I am almost 2 years sober (almost 4 years free from cigarettes, too).

I hope all is well with you :pray:t3:

Wonderful to hear from you and that you’re almost two years sober + 4 years cigarette free!! Both are a lot to be proud of!!

I am doing well sobriety wise, having a lot of family challenges on top of a natural disaster where I live tho and that is taking a toll. Trying to stay focused on today and the positives all around me.:people_hugging::raised_hands: So nice to see you again!
