Who else is stuffing themselves with chocolate chips and coke?
Telling myself this will pass and I’ll be choosing better substitutes eventually.
I have a chocolate chip cookie with my tea…and sometimes some cake in the evenings
My mountain dew intake has certainly increased! I try so hard not to drink it, but it beats the booze. And some chocolate chip cookies sound great right now.
When I was in AA, the people there told me that your body is gonna be craving the sugar it is no longer getting from alcohol. Indulge yourself if it stops you from returning to the bottle. I’ve just polished off a family sized bag of m&ms. Go with it if it keeps you sober. I’ve found sparkling water to be a life saver. Tricks me into thinking I’m drinking soda.
Yup…I am loving my Halo Top ice cream and Dove dark chocolates…amen to them! Luckily I haven’t been a soda freak for years, so I am chugging water and sparkling water with fruit.
Way better than all that booze. One thing at a time.

Love my ice cream before bed ! And I love the brand Unreal’s peanut butter cups…so good.
I’ve read not to worry about food choices to help with cravings during first year in recovery. (I read that in The Recovery Book, 2nd edition )
Like @edgem90 said, this is extremely common. Don’t worry about it. For me it took about 3 months before the cravings went away. I just enjoyed myself and re-learned how fun it is to have a sweet tooth. I really did stop eating junk food when drinking. I thought I had grown out of my love for chocolate…nope!

Yep. Trying not to feel guilty about it. For right now, as long as I’m not drinking, I’m winning.
Wow, that’s a blast from the past. I have moved on to Breyer’s Natural Vanilla and Lindt Chili Chocolate. Still just water for me. Still like Dove dark chocolates too.
Coca cola it was for me when i got sober,id finish work in the hotel i was working at 2pm,take a big bucket of ice from the bar,stop off at the supermarket on the way home and buy 3 x 2 litre bottles of coke and sit there watching shows ,films and drinking coke for the rest of the day.
This was part of the plan,i was going to do whatever made me happy for a while.
I think i done it for a bit to long though,i ended up massive😳,after about 4 months i put about 4 stone on maybe more,i literally had to roll out of my bed.
5 years later all is good,im training most days of the week and back in shape.
It was hard work but i think the comfort was needed and it was worth it
