Vivid dreams?

Hey, hello, howdy!!

I’m at 52 days clean from alcohol and weed, and 41 days nicotine free. I’m curious as to having vivid dreams, like every night at this stage. Some are daunting, they’re mostly just annoying, probably part in due to the bed I made by yrs of abuse. In no way will this affect myself staying in track. More so just looking for others who have this and or are past it, I pray there is a past this. Lol .

Thanks

J

Hey Jay,
Definitely had dreams regularly in the beginning that bothered me. Got through it.
I still have them now, but much much less frequently.
I’m sure I had them while intoxicated but don’t recall them as well.
I think your brain is processing things, perhaps purging some guilt. Not sure but they aren’t as frequent nor intense any longer.
Lasted in intensity for probably the first 150 days or so.

Congrats on your run of sobriety

Thank you for taking the time to write. Much appreciated. I have a toxic job I gotta get out of, outside of that, no wife, kids, the usual suspects of stress. Haha. Like I said there not on the nightmare side just real vivid, I do get a good amount of sleep so maybe time will loosen the chains. Thanks again

Hey, thanks for the reply. I guess I’m still in the beginning stages. I can handle that, not sure about the longlivity of such. Ha . I don’t hold much guilt, much, some as we all do. Nothing on the repent my sins level, thankfully. Again thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

When I had lurid, scary dreams of almost using, I considered them freebie examples of how I would feel if I picked up in real life.

Eventually, they went away, and I continued drug & alcohol free.

I hear that my friend. Thankfully we wake up to a safer reality. Thanks for commenting :muscle:

304 of freedom.

I had vivid dreams the many times I quit nicotine. I still get them now and again since I got off alcohol. I quit smoking around the same time.

I don’t have any issues with the dreams. I look at it as entertainment and a sign I’m getting some deep sleep.

Thanks for posting. I get I’m in the early stages and need to be patient as I’m aware more so that’ll these will become less with time.:+1::muscle:

Or they may not, in all honesty. I have had vivid (and frankly unpleasant) dreams for as long as I can remember and I wake up in the middle of most nights, pumped full of adrenaline and heart racing. One of the many reasons I used to drink, an alcoholic coma at least kept the dreams at bay.

What I have learned is that sleep disruption/unwanted dreams is very much something you can discuss with your mental health professional. There are medications that help, are non-addictive and don’t leave you groggy in the morning. Not saying you need any of that, it’s probably too early to tell either way, but just putting this out there for others that may struggle.
