So for anyone has used or knew someone that has used Vivitol for alcohol addiction? What are your thoughts, pros, cons, side effects?

Hey! I have never personally used Vivitrol but i have worked closely with individuals that utilized it. If you dont mind sharing whether you are taking it for alcohol or opioid use. I can tell you more if i knew that…i can say in my experience & observation it was extremely beneficial for everyone that i knew…safer & more convenient with just a once a month injection. I am strongly supportive of harm reduction. However, like all other medications like Vivitrol it is not the cure. There must be intensive treatment and therapy along with it.

Hey! Hope you are doing well. One more thing i should have said is to do your research but utilize professional information. Dont just rely on Google. Sites like NAADAC or if you have access to a online library look for medical studies or peer reviewed articles. I have seen people do very well with it. It works with the cravings but not the behaviors which is why therapy is necessary.

It’s definitely tough getting through the first couple weeks. It made me ill and gave me insomnia. I had to stop taking it, but apparently the side effects do subside. I ended up getting sober through meetings and a community of support.
But it does work, definitely. I had the pills and if I knew I would drink I would take it and it prevented a bender. Everyone is different and I know it has saved many lives.

How are doing tonight ? I used vivitrol for alchool for alil bit .i liked it pros for me was it helped in early stage Soberity and i would say only the only con i had with it was pain at Injection site for like a day or 2 after .i had side effects towards the end of the month feeling low energy but easily fixed with taking naltrexone. The doctor explained it was just blood levels trying to level out going back to normal .but the shot definitely helps and the pill naltrexone is the pill form take with hard days …im not a person to push big pharma but i looked at it as ill try it see how i felt and if anything it could be a extra buffer protection in early Soberity… It is honestly how you feel about it and like others have said it not the magical drug it doing AA and therapy should be combined with vivitrol to really work for someone
