Vivitrol Shot- experience/ thoughts

Hi everyone! So I’m 93 days sober. I noticed there is not a lot about the vivitrol shot on here.

I’ve taken the vivitrol shot about 4 times now and I was just wondering others experiences.

I have noticed some side effects that are normal such as feeling foggy and fatigued for a few days after. But I also noticed my white blood cell count goes up a bit each time I get it(around 11.0-12.0). Last time I got the shot I ended up in the hospital with what seemed to be panic attacks but ended up being an infection somewhere in my body. I don’t think the two are related I think it was just a coincidence my body decided to get sick with everything the same time as the shot - however I am worried this time for obvious reasons.

On the plus side the shot has completely gotten rid of my alcoholic cravings and has allowed me to work the program and learn how to live without drugs and alcohol!

Does anyone have any advice or thoughts? Thank you!

I was on vivitrol for 8 months or so. Other than a sore ass i didn’t notice any side effects. Also a good idea to bring up with your doctor regarding the white blood cells as that could be indicative of a separate medical condition.

So turns out the nurse that was giving it to me was doing it completely wrong the entire time. The doctor did it this month and I’ve had no side effects. I normally have a bump where the injection was and I thought this was normal…apparently it’s not at all so that’s good to know! But everything is all good now. Thank you for your response!
