Walked into the local pub to eat and... I didn't even have to ask for a drink

I walked into the local pub to eat planning on not drinking. 10 days sober. And… The excellent bartender delivered my wine as usual before I could even ask. I also have so many points I “own the place”. I can’t imagine how much money I’ve spent here that I don’t even realize.

I’m going to drink this one go home and start over tomorrow. I know I can’t come in here again for a long while.

I’m ok. I don’t hate myself. Tomorrows another day.

I picked a terrible time of year to quit.

I used to have a bar like that where the bartender would have my beer poured before I could ask for it. Stinks when they are trying to be nice while you wanna quit.

My bartender does/did that when she sees my car… if they didn’t have the best burgers I’d stay away. I paid for the beer and told her to pour it out. Wasn’t too hard to turn down. Granted I’ve had a couple resets since then but I feel it’s easier to be open with people about trying to stay sober. Most people are very supportive. Even casual acquaintances.

I would not go back there, one I’ve made a point to do is stay away from all the places I used to frequent while drinking. A lot of negative energy, people make assumptions. Make that a rule, a fun game to play is add up how much you saved not drinking next time you easy out!

No time is a bad time to quit. If you genuinely want to get some grub order take out or sit at a table not near the bar. You can do it, it’s going to be a hell but it will be so worth it.
