Walking to sobriety

Just been out for walk. I really had to push myself to get off my backside and do it but I feel better for it.

Something about just going out into the wild and heading in that direction free as a bird. Clears your mind

Hope all are well

Where I live there are some good walks and great scenery. And it costs nothing to do. Plus the added health benefits. I think I am onto a winner

One day at a time

Walking was and still is a major component of my sobriety. So good for the body, mind and spirit.

I’m with you Dan, I love walking. I’ve just completed my first walking challenge, 50k in May. The hardest part was finding time but I did it.
Just about to renew my walking group membership :walking_woman:

Yeah we have trails and forest areas. It’s right on the doorstep where I am in the UK.

I use an app called Strava that gives you ideas and I have had a few recommendations from friends. Next thing to do is get some hiking boots lol

Hey Dan  it’s great that you’re really getting something from your walks. It’s true, walking is excellent for us on so many levels. Being out in nature is fantastic for our minds, which is crucial in helping us sober people manage day to day stress.

I’ve just stolen your app  thanks for the tip. I have been using All Trails, which is good, but I think yours looks slicker to use

For now I’m doing relatively easy walks, as I have my kids with me. These walks are as good for them as they are for me.

So today we walked a local nature reserve that’s not far from me -

And last week we walked the royal canal -

I walk everyday. My counselor recommended it to me a while back, and damn, it really does make a difference. Now I’m going on 2 hour walks. But I started at just 30 minute walks. I never regret going out, even if I’m feeling lazy and have to push myself a little bit.

I love running. That’s what I do to clear my mind. Going into the forest and run and run and run. It’s soooo good for body and mind
