Thank you, it was a hard confession to write but I think it’s healthy to voice it , I really appreciate all the continued support from everyone and for the understanding, it was a very difficult situation to navigate .
We are only human I just couldn’t put the glass down when he put it in my hand.
I have talked it out with my best friend and my mum and they also said not to beat myself up too much the fact I’ve recognised it as a mistake and am not defending my actions and blaming others for it then that’s improvement on where I was mentally 2 weeks ago .
My partner said it was a glitch in the system and to push forwards
I’m trying to think positive , atleast I haven’t thrown in the towel

sorry not sorry to be a party downer, but that was not a glitch. it was drinking. fullstop. do not belittle a relapse and don’t make it bigger than it was. stay sober today, that’s all that counts. and block this “friend”, i would shovel the bottle up his ass if it happened to me. NO is a complete sentence. This is also true for telling yourself NO.
Hop on the sober train again and put more work into recovery

I absolutely agree that it was my choice and my mistake to make ! And I feel incredibly guilty and like the worst person in the world already today .
And I appreciate your comment . Onwards and upwards .
The reason I’m trying to stay positive is because I have a habit of beating myself up too much and causing myself more mental health issues .
I am aware of how important it is that I put MY sobriety first .
I already had the hard talk from my partner last night when I came to bed stinking of booze and cigarettes and shame.
Guilt , shame and depression can also send you off the other side of the wagon and I don’t want to give up .
Thanks again

It takes time for people to understand and accept that you are no longer drinking. I was known as the one who was always up for a drink, and me saying no was greeted with surprise and commentary for quite a while, and it was a bit awkward. And I was damn lucky that was all I got, not actual pressure like you just did. However, after a few 'no’s, most people will give up asking after a while, unless they really have their own issues.
But as others and yourself have said, drinking is your own choice in the end; what is done is done, but must reflect on it so it doesn’t happen again.

I am so sorry you are going through this! The battle is so hard. Truthfully though most of us have all been in your shoes before and that means no one is passing judgement. We are all here for you.
I can’t tell you how many times I have gone a week, two weeks, even months or longer and given into temptation. It happens and this isn’t an easy thing to overcome.
I know I don’t know you personally but I actually couldn’t stop thinking about you last night, kept checking the app before I went to bed, hoping for an update that you were ok. Just know you have a good community in your corner!
If weekends are going to be your real obstacle to get through. I would recommend having more of a mapped out plan. Especially in times when you are alone or have too much downtime. Also don’t answer the door next time, that person definitely doesn’t sound like a friend if they didn’t listen when you said no.
Hope today is going better for you and don’t beat yourself up too much. Try to learn from this.

Thank you so much for the kind words , this group is amazing and I’m so glad I found it
I’m feeling more positive now and I will definitely won’t be answering the door next time lol
I have also spoken with him and told him if he needs to respect my boundaries if he’s any kind of friend , he’s agreed but if anything like this happens again that will be the end of it .
It’s been a hard day today but I will get there one day at a time.

Choice: yes.
Mistake: no.
IMHO you make a mistake not out of choice.
i think you are doing great, dusting off and on the sober train again
Another 2 cent: The guilt merry go round … forget about it. It changes nothing and it’s a pretty common excuse to not do what’s necessary. Take responsibility, act accordingly. Change what is within your control, seek help & support, work on your recovery daily. Staying sober is easy, just don’t pick up the first drink. Being in recovery takes work, time, honesty and the committment to work on yourself and your underlying issues.
If all you do today is stay sober, you are a hero.
Don’t forget to be kind to yourself

Ok ! Here we are again , I was all prepared , but the hot weather strikes and every bugger wants beer
I’ve had 2 mates call and text me asking me to come out and then a random Coke dealer message me saying he’s delivering!
Firstly I’ve immediately deleted and blocked the number for drugs .
And I’ve told my mates I’m not drinking but thanks .
However it has completely thrown me off course . I haven’t finished work yet but I’m literally running home and locking the damn door when I get in and the phones going off

I’m not fucking up again it’s officially 7days sober today

I can do this …..

Life has a funny way of disregarding our plans!
But it sounds like you are making the best of it! Any other contacts you should block and delete? Preemptive action can be very useful to avoid similar experiences in the future!
Congrats on your 7 days!
if you need a reminder of how shitty a relapse will be, all you need to do is come here and read your own words!
You definitely can do this!

Be kind to yourself and do something you like. A bubblebath, a book, a podcast, a funny TV show, drink lots of water, tea, yummi juice, put on fancy nailpolish, switch off your phone and focus on yourself

Just thought I’d update the situation, I got the classic neighbour again on my way home as-well saying , he was going to ask me for a drink too but he after telling him he had to support me he thought he best not
I said well don’t ask me and thanks for the support and went inside lol
Anyway that’s besides the point , I made it through all those booby traps of the day and I got in and had a lovely cold Diet Coke and after talking to my bestie and my mum on the phone and messaging my partner and you guys of course my sober warriors and I’m feeling much more settled .
I just had a lovely hot shower and done my hair , got in my pjs . I’m going to make something delicious for my tea and might even indulge in some ice cream for dessert lol
And then I’m off to bed to watch something silly on the Tv .
Today has been really hard , I’ve had to ply the tape forward to the hang overs and Shame so many times but I’ve made it through
Thank you for all your support as always this group is incredible , love to you all x

I’m so proud of you, keep it up!
You’ve shown real strenght by blocking those people and facing the neighbour. And I’m glad to see he seems to have gotten the message finally.
I’m cheering you on from here with my cold diet coke

Read your thread.
Getting sober required my having to drop several “friends”…
Being in bars and pubs is not where to find sober success, so if drinking was the common denominator in the relationship…I found these friendships ended, but were they really friends or just people I drank with (it’s the latter).
I’ve moved on…formed new friendships, met new aquiantences and have takin up new activities.
You should chime in on the “Checking in daily” thread around here…way more people check in there…lots more conversation… accountability.
Be well Mr. Pudding Face
