Welcome back addiction

I relapsed hard around mid-October and have been struggling ever since (gambling). Sooo much time lost to this shit. I feel myself sliding towards suicide and I don’t even care (don’t know whether it’s against the rules to use big words like that around here, don’t care, it is what it is). It sucks to be a loser.

You’re not a loser. You’re an addict. Your addiction has dug you into a hole and now you have to choose to ask for help to climb out.

Be careful with that “I’m a loser” line of thinking. That is your addict brain lying to you. It tells you things to trick you into feeling like it doesn’t matter, like life isn’t worth it, like you can’t do it. The addict brain lies to you, because it wants more of its addiction.

You get free by asking for help, and then by working your path to freedom, with support. There’s help here:

https://www.gamblersanonymous.org/ga/locations

There are similar Gamblers Anonymous programs around the world.

There are others in recovery from gambling here too. Search “gambling” and you’ll find them.

Remember: “I’m a loser” is you addiction lying to you. It’s a bully and it’s trying to tell you you’re worthless. Stand up to it and you will prove it wrong. Choose to live. It is always your choice. You always, always have power.

Thanks Matt but this app isn’t for gamblers, it’s mostly for alcoholics and drugs, let’s face it. I’ve come across a very small number of posts related to gambling, and old. I don’t think I’m getting what I need here to be honest. Sure the roits of addiction can be similar whatever the drug you’re using, but if you’re an alcoholic it’s best to talk to alcoholics about your issue, because they understand. Same with gambling.

No meetings in Paris, they’re not organizing them anymore.

I’ll delete this app and then fuck it. Thanks for trying, I think you’ve commented on virtually all of my previous posts too

I’m happy to help even if it was just commenting :innocent:

I can hear how discouraged you are. It’s heartbreaking. It sounds like you need some help, obviously because otherwise why share here? But you don’t feel you have it.

There’s a lot of online GA meetings - why not one of them?

My brother had a gambling addiction, theres a number you can call to bar yourself from being able to gamble or place bets of any kind, if you want help with your addiction i think you could that as a first step. Also therapy and a place like here where you would feel comfortable.
Good luck and i hope you get the help you need. :slightly_smiling_face:

Addictions have no boundaries whether its eating, gambling, drinking, drugs, sex or what have you, no one is really not affected in some way by it. Im glad your back here, you can stick around and just talk to people about what you need to, we can all help each other some way. Can msg me if youd like i know what its like to have a problem with gambling.

This doesn’t happen by chance. @Gillsy1002 just posted a gambling thread.

You are not a loser!
You are here! :facepunch: Only people who want a change are here and so are you. I’m proud of all of us!

Join that tread @SinceIAwoke mentioned and get active on that. It helps to talk about your addiction and hear what helps others so you can try that too. Be a part of TS.
We all need a peer group, like NA ore AA ore an addiction group in real life ore online.
TS is my peer group and it kept me sober for more then 3 years now.
I wish you the same, go get it! :facepunch:
