What a blessing it is to be posting this

Officially 2 years sober today!

Over the past 2 years I have done so much work on myself. It hasn’t been easy, it’s been a lonely at times, it’s been scary…..but its also been beautiful.

To anyone who is just starting out on their journey…. YOU CAN DO THIS. Use your resources. Come in here, post as much as you need, go to groups, find sober friends, journal, do the therapy, do everything you can. Because this choice you’ve made…… it’s going to change everything. Here is a list of things I did in the past year that I could not have done without my sobriety:

I lost 112 lbs, I repaired relationships with my friends and family, I started my own business(very new thing lol but still), I got engaged and started planning my wedding, I moved into my dream apartment, I officially am out of the danger zone for my liver damage, I have a healthy happy dog who I go running with, I see my little sisters (19 & 7 years old) multiple times a month, I have stayed in therapy, I’ve gotten involved with aiding in other people’s sobriety and wellness, I went to Hawaii for a week, I’ve shown up for every family even and birthday and they all went amazingly, I’ve gotten back into camping and hiking, I started painting and playing music again……..and then there’s all the little things.

I remember every day and night, I don’t wake up sick, I’m not dying…… I’m here. And I’m happy. I can’t describe the happiness.

I have less people in my life. I have less “fun”. But my life is so much more full……. You can’t understand the beauty of it all until you hit that point where you realize everything has changed……. But you will! And we will all he here waiting to congratulate you when you do.

it’s an absolute transformation, a different people entirely. i can relate i have experienced the same thing. when i was using, i couldn’t do s***. now i take care of my mom, go to the gym, cook, clean, everything. mom barely has to lift a finger. i even have a job**.**

this all makes it worthwhile to stay clean alone

congrats my friend you are an example to newcomers and give them hope that they can make it too so thank you for sharing (y)our accomplishment
