What are you sipping on today?

Today’s sparkling water flavour is mandarin orange.

I mix these. Mostly green tea topped off with hibiscus herbal tea to sweeten it. Pour it in a tall glass with ice. Tastes great, refreshing and not much sugar.

This was a random purchase today and I honestly thought I was going to drink them occasionally because they were probably really sugary but turns out they’re extremely refreshing and they’re only 1 g of sugar and a lot of vitamins. I don’t remember them being like that when I was a kid maybe they adapted with the times and made them healthier? I’m going to keep these stocked at all times from now on. This is definitely a good summertime drink when I want something besides water.

I’m certain the ones I remember from my childhood were definitely loaded in sugar. They were sickly sweet like McDonalds orange drink just in different flavours and the flavours tasted like colours not fruit :joy: . These and hotdogs was pretty much what was served at any kids summer birthday back then lol

Yeah exactly they’re not like that anymore they’re actually really refreshing. I think they are better than Gatorade. And there is a small amount of sodium and B vitamins so these would be good for after A work out or anything in the sun. Good for replacing electrolytes, It’s kind of like a slightly water down vitamin water

Good ol’ ice water. I did drink a Barq’s root beer earlier, but I’m not trying to replace PBR with Barq’s lol so I’m keeping an eye on how many I consume.

Gotta do what you gotta do especially in the beginning! The sugar definitely helps alcohol cravings. But still I think that’s good you’re mindful and you don’t want to drink too many of the root beers

Way better than the alternative

I heard that back in the day they used to give people honey, tomato juice and sauerkraut when people were coming down off of alcohol binges Like in institutions. The honey helped with probably the cravings and jitteriness, the tomato juice for the vitamins and the sauerkraut probably for digestion maybe or something. I just know that honey and sugar is really good in the beginning helping with alcohol cravings

That’s interesting, cuz I was thinking a V8 sounded good yesterday. Maybe my body is trying to tell me something…

Definitely. That happens when your body is lacking certain vitamins you’ll crave things that have what you need. I’ve heard stories of people being shipwrecked or stuff like that and they eat the craziest things and come to find out it’s because their body needed whatever it was

I’m sipping my usual ice tea/lemonade drink.

I was at the store earlier to pick up coffee for the morning. There was a guy in front of me with a full cart unloading his stuff to get checked out. I only had the coffee. I wasn’t paying attention when he picked up my coffee and handed it to the girl and asked her to scan it. I guess he felt like he didn’t want me to have to wait. He handed it to me and said that’s on me.

I don’t think he realized it’s expensive coffee.

It’s roasted in the town of Duluth Minnesota. I was born there. St. Mary’s Hospital. Same one Bob Dylan was born in.

It was nice of that guy.

I’m going to drink more water from now on. It might take some time to adjust but I definitely have too much sugar in my diet. Sometimes my brain tricks me and tells me that sugar helps my anxiety and maybe it does briefly or short term. what I’m thinking is the crash from that sugar and the blood sugar spikes and drops cannot be good for my brain and body. The constant up and down. I’ve learned in sobriety that everything takes practice and anything that is new seems weird at first but eventually becomes normal and routine.

I really like this eternal brand but I Also like Evian And Zephyrhills. Especially Evian and Eternal because of the soft taste. I like spring water because of the Minerals like Calcium, Magnesium and potassium Which is better for hydration. I do not like purified water because it is stripped of the things your body needs And the things I just listed. Realistically though I am very grateful I get to be picky and have choices because there is places where people are not as fortunate on their water options or even having clean water and I can’t even imagine that.
