What are your 2024 Goals?

My breakdown for achieving my goals:

I have a 40% close ratio for face to face estimates and I have an average job size of $4000. That means to make $500K in total sales for 2024 I have to land 125 jobs, which means I need to schedule 313 estimates (125 is 40% of 312.5).

There are 50 working weeks in my year so that means I need to have an average of 6.26 estimates a week, so let’s round that up to 7 estimates a week.

I also need to front-load my estimating schedule (where I live the majority of painting business, my business, is done in the summer; I do about 50% of my annual sales between May and September, so I have to work ahead of time to schedule work for then), so I need to do an average of let’s say 10 estimates a week from January to June, about 25 weeks, which will come to 250 estimates total for the first half of the year, then I can slow down a bit the second half of the year.

So my measurable milestones for 2024 are:

  • 10 estimates a week from January to June (5-7 per week the remainder of the year)
  • 100 lead generation calls per week (generally speaking you gotta spread the net pretty wide to set estimates up - with 100 calls a week, which can include high-production calls like visiting realtors and property managers, I can land 10 estimates a week)

The plane is a much longer term goal and the achievability of that goal depends entirely on my financial fundamentals - and I won’t know those until get my business humming, which could take a few years. But the plane is a “Big Hairy Audacious Goal”: my BHAG. It’s what I’m pushing for.

Disc, till, plant and secure a big ass garden in Montana! Once we move there in April. Pics will be posted, I promise.

The way I see it is that I just need to increase my daily fart quota slightly… If I can hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes should fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

1.) Finish my classes and take the test for my state counseling certification. I will be able to do this if I complete one class per month.
2.) Get in shape but not just in shape, I want to get strong and have a nice body that I’m proud of. I’m thinking if I can get to the gym at least 4 days a week consistently at first I will be able to make progress.
3.) Become a better guitarist and that will take me practicing for at least an hour each day.
4.) Write new music and get out playing live again. This will take me actually spending time with my instrument.
5.) Get my passport. This will take $165.
6.) Go hiking in Washington. I just need to save for the ticket and some gear.

One thing I noticed recently is how important consistency is! I seem to always start something for a few days but then stop when I don’t feel like I’m making progress. Results only come from consistent actions so that is what I am going to focus on!

I honestly haven’t even thought of it!! For the first time in my life I don’t have resolutions/goals worked out. How odd. I wonder what that means.

Great job Matt, very detailed tasks set out for yourself :+1:. I’m kinda the polar opposite lol. Need to focus more on me and less work. Ive worked hard to give everyone else everything but end up with nothing for myself besides emotionally drainage from being gone all the time & alcohol has been my drug to cope, which makes it all worse. 2024 for me will be to say no,
No to booze one day at a time
No to work (set boundaries)
And find like minded trustworthy friends. This will likely be the hardest to do.
Have a great day, good luck with your goals.

I am going into this year determined and focused. By honouring my feeling while sticking to my goals. I know my friendships are going to change. I know my life is going to get extremely better yet there will be a period of loneliness as the transition will be hard. Once on the other side I will know it was all worth it. The benefits will be my money will be consciously spent, my body will feel healthy and my life will have space for love.
