What are your 2024 Goals?

It’s that time!!! I don’t believe in resolutions but I do believe in goals. I would love to hear your goals for this coming year. They can be big or small. Writing it out or saying it out loud can help concrete your goal in your mind. I’m including a podcast I find helpful and they just happen to do an episode on goals

Thanks for the great thread! Ive actually been thinking about my 2024 goals for awhile now.

The biggest goal is related to my health and The Conqueror Challenges. I am starting the Route 66 Challenge Jan 1st and wanting to finish it by the end of the year. Apparently that is 3669 km for me to walk, run, and exercise my way to a medal! My hope in doing this, is that I lose 5lbs a month by eating better and exercising. That will give me a 60lb loss by the end of the year which would complete my goal.

Another goal (which is an obvious one) is to make 2024 another clean and sober year.

Id like to make a financial goal for myself also but am still figuring that out  I was going to do a savings account but with my husbands upcoming dental work, ill be saving for that instead.

I never seem to have an for the questions like what are your goals for yourself or what’s on your bucket list. After thinking about it for a while. I think it’s because I ( and my wife too) have just put ourselves on the back burner for so long, raising kids or working or taking care of all the grown up shit . So I think my goal for 2024 is to just be selfish in a good way, and take time to end 2024 as the strongest version of myself I can possibly get to. Physically, emotionally and just see how I feel this time next year.

Thanks for sharing guys  The next task is how do you plan to get to your goals. It’s important to not only set goals but have a tangible plan to achieve them.
Here’s mine:
:large_blue_circle: 156 strength workouts- which breaks down to 12 per month or 3 per week (edit- so 12x12= 144 but 3x52= 156 so gonna set the goal is the middle at 150)
:large_blue_circle: 750 running miles- breaks down to 63ish per month or 15-16 per week.
:large_blue_circle:Run a half marathon distance each month
:large_blue_circle:Walk my dogs 20 miles each month- this is a loose goal. I mostly just try to track how much they walk. They are senior citizens lol so I don’t push them hard.
:large_blue_circle: Write a positive affirmation each day in my notebook.
:large_blue_circle: Stay sober- which I plan to do by using all the above as motivation and you guys as support.

I like the idea of just having this post for 2024. Reading the years past resolutions might be entertaining for some tho. If you want it moved still I can do that.

Ok, we can keep it. I just didn’t want to clog up the threads with multiple of the same idea.

Instead of resolutions or goals, I’ve been choosing a word for the year to focus on. For 2024 it’s “authenticity.” I want to be more authentic in how I interact with the world.

Well I set my goals for 2023 and I crushed it. I lost over 100lbs and I’m still going strong, 2024 is going to be challenging. I’m going to start building muscle now and not have a single drop of alcohol. I just started my sobriety journey November 19th 2023 and it’s not easy to stay sober when the stress piles up but I believe I can stay sober as long as I keep myself in check.

My longer term goal - more than just 2024 obviously but 2024 is a foundational year to build up to this goal - is to buy this:

Over the next 5 years, before the end of 2028, I will get my pilot’s license and join a flying club to get practice.

Over the next 10 years, before the end of 2033, I will save up enough money to buy that plane: the Beechcraft C90 GTX.

Great goals, Matt! I always wanted to get my pilot’s license, but I don’t see it happening in my lifetime yet I won’t give up hope. The thought of flying a plane is so freeing. I’ll certainly be here cheering you on though.
