After two years of sobriety, I don’t have time to drink. But Seriously, I attend three meetings a week in person, one I Chair, I have a zoom book study that is not AA sanctioned, but deals with applying the 12 steps and I have an in person book study that is not AA sanctioned, but deals with spiritual living.
Once you surround yourself with living the best life that your HP has for you, you will have peace of mind.
I try to do things more intentionally:
Not just have the mandatory shower, but have a long bath sometimes with a facemask, a cup of tea and a good book.
Not just make “whatever” for dinner, but choose a new recipe. Buy fresh ingredients, pay attention to the preparation and cook a healthy meal from scratch.
Keep on top of chores, from laundry to changing batteries in the smoke alarm to paperwork. I never before filed my tax return that early.
And I have downtime intentionally. I pay attention to what I watch on TV. I re-watch movies that I’ve seen before with a bottle or two of wine. So now I finally get to see the endings AND remember them.
I listen to music and really listen to it, not just as background noise.
I sit still and do a puzzle/jigsaw or colouring in.
