What do you say when refusing a drink?

I am very honest and tell them I can’t drink. If they ask why i tell them the truth…because it affects my mental health and medication.

In the past when I’ve attempted to quit, I’ve declined a drink and on occasion a couple of my ‘friends’ have literally bought me one anyway and held it out in front of me, saying ‘here you go take it!’ and if I continued to say ‘no, I don’t want it’ I was made to feel guilty because they’d wasted their money lmao, luckily I’ve realised now that they’re the as*hole in that situation and not me lol

I had my first family events last weekend and declining the amazing wines on the table was difficult. I just said I was just giving alcohol a long break. A lot of my family know why I’m staying away from alcohol though.

What I say when refusing a drink:
Go f**k yourself.

Just kidding, lol.
That’s in my head, haha. I say, “I already have a drink” (I make sure I have something in my hand always).

Wow that really is an A hole move! Must say it kinda familiar lol. Glad you have grown out of falling into that trap

I’ve told people that I’m not drinking for 100 days. (It’s a realistic starting goal for me). Most people think it’s interesting. I’ve heard all kinds of stories about dry month long experiments people have tried. And on occasion someone tries to buy me a drink thinking that I’m to broke to afford to drink anymore.
