I appreciate you sharing! Thanks.
I am a believer in a Higher Power and have no problem saying the word God.
In my opinion, today (I say today because I finally realize I am ever changing physically, mentally and spiritually), there is only one God, a loving God who goes by any host of names, God, Yahweh, Odin, etc. And they exist in all of us and every object, animate or inanimate. We mold our God to reflect what we believe, though what we believe may not be our own doing but rather a belief passed down from others which we have accepted as our own without personal evaluation.
Even a person who believes there is no God, believes in Gods absence, which essentially means that they believe in a godhead of personal choice only, them being their own master, an individual god of sorts.
And those views are all ok.
I tell religious jokes and my God doesnt punish me because he has a sense of humor.
I was thinking about Higher Power yesterday. I have a daughter with an intellectual disability from birth ā¦she takes much longer to learn everything, walking, talking, running, writing, etc. Etc. ā¦yet, the sperm that fertilized the egg beat 1 to many million odds to get there and 9 months passed without consequence to bring her into the world.
That is an intervention by a higher power. In my opinion. Today.
Iāll toast my cappuccino to that!
I have this issue with some of my Christian friends. Forcing God onto people. Itās almost like they are bullying you into their beliefs. And they seem relentless. They donāt want to think of the part where Jesus said āshake the dust off your feet and move onā *paraphrased by me.
Thanks Tommo.
For years I could could not understand how people could be successful in recovery without God or a higher power. I just couldnāt understand how you can do it. Iām still not sure I understand. I donāt have to. But my eyes are open and I can accept it and more importantly respect it. Especially when the goal is to be sober. I think this whole sobriety thing has helped me be more accepting of things.
Amen! God bless you and yours.
I might create a forum for us to share our cultures and I will write up more about Maori and our customs.
Regards to your study on Faāfafineā¦ this is of Samoan language to help. Maori and Samoans are both from the pacific and share similar protocols but also very unique and diverse in many other ways. Also we do not use the letter F in my language but heyā¦ no worries.
The topic you researched is a very known in my country as NZ is a multi cultural country having Samoans, Tongan, Fijian, Rarotongan, Niue, European and more
Thanks @Tas. Yes it is very meaning to me and my people. Glad I was reconnected with myself to pursue my heritage and my culture through recovery.
Thanks for the education. I love it!
I created a discussion.
Indigenous and disassociated is the topic.
You thoughts would be more than welcomed
