Are you clean if you’re still taking substitution medication?
How do you define Sobriety?
Take it as prescribed to you ny your doctor, then yes you’re clean
I don’t drink or do any drugs that arent prescribed to me. Hence I conside myself clean and sober.
I take prescribed medication and consider myself clean and sober. As long as I’m taking it as directed by my doctor, I’m good in my book.
In a way, I don’t think I deserve to say that I’ve been clean for 5 years, I feel in a way I’ve cheated.
If it’s prescribed by a doctor and you’re taking it as directed then you are clean
What are you on? Subs?
Suboxone
Personal, I think. I’m clean from all drugs and alcohol. I consider myself sober. Buuuut, I still vape nicotine. I admit that’s still an addiction.
It doesn’t run my life or, as far as I know, cause any trouble. It is still somewhere I know I have room to improve though.
Far as taking medication as prescribed, think that’s between a person, their doctor, and their conscience/personal goals. If they’re sticking honestly to the plan, then great! They’re sober to me.
If they wanna make getting off that stuff a goal, also great! Just be careful and work with the doctor.
I’ll put it another way… Anyone can say, “I am clean from X, Y and Z.” Easy enough.
But sobriety is the question to me. Are we leading our fullest lives? Are we helpful to those around us, rather than causing trouble? Can we do so with or without that thing getting in our way?
Cuz that sounds like sobriety, and it’s the life I got clean for. Maybe we can do better, but I remember doing a lot worse!
That makes a lot of sense!
I’m not extremely familiar with And have never actually taken subs. I’m speaking based only off what I’ve seen/heard from others
The problem with subs is people misusing it. If you aren’t taking it properly or if you aren’t tapering etc then yano it’s still substance abuse. Also I hear you can still fail a drug test. So from what I gathered some people don’t consider it “clean” bc you can’t pass a drug test to prove it.
Me personally… I’m all for it. If your off the streets. Reducing or eliminating your chances of getting a “bad batch” of ODing. Making solid efforts to better your life. The I say it’s your journey. Do you I’m proud of you! Your sober journey doesn’t have to look like everyone else’s. Only you and your doctor can decide what’s best for you. Keep doing what your doing to find the healthier. Safer you. (mentally and physically)
