I’d rather be sober and akward…then be an akward drunk!!!lol
holy cow, i love this thread! lol my favorite lately is " nothing changes if nothing changes"
or “if you hang around at the barber shop long enough, your going to get your haircut” that’s used a lot when people around the tables ask if going out to bars is still a good idea.
I’ve stolen that add my own btw. You posted it a while back and it has been a great explanation as to how i view what i was like and will become when people say i can drink if i just______ . them I’m all so imagine you turn a radio up…
Addiction is like the teeth that fit the wound that was already there.
Abstinence is easier than moderation.
“My last drink was… Wow. I can’t even remember”
My counselor simply said,
‘Everyday you dont drink, Your a winner’
Helps me with bad days, just thinking ’ I’m a fucking winner’.
Still not sure what I’ve won but
Whether I think I can or I think I can’t, I’m right.
Needed that, thanks.
Ha ha. I stole it from someone on here. I think it was either @JustL or @Just4Today. It’s a good one:)
When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.
He who knows, does not speak. He who speaks, does not know.
Silence is a source of great strength.
To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders.
Knowing others is wisdom, knowing yourself is Enlightenment.
If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading. ~Lao Tzu
Another favorite of mine is…
The disease is out to kill you but it will settle for getting you drunk!
I will not let the worst of me get the best of me.
If you always do what you’ve always done, your gonna get what you always got!
I love all these !!! Thanks for sharing everyone !!
Agreed, definitely helps when things start to get stressful.
So true! I have tons of quotes saved on my phone and write them in a journal as well .
That’s a good idea, I have a lot on my phone but not a journal to right them in. I find writing things down helps.
It really does help! It’s a good thing to read when your feeling the urge as well
Agreed, I’ve always found reading a good distraction in general.
