I gotta go do some stuff but i will be back later and il check this thread if you need to talk anymore but for now i send you big hugs xx
Hopefully you are getting some rest @Thistimeplease. This place helped me so much in early days, just reading as much as I could and learning and reaching out when needed. We are a global community, so someone is always here. Never hesitate to reach out. ![]()

Theyre saying they cant reply anymore today? I didnt know that was a thing…
That happened to me when I first joined. Apparently new users have some limits but if I remember correctly it wasn’t long before they unlocked it.
Thank you @pinkfirefly, it seems strange doesnt it esp when im saying to reach out when they need to…
Hope your ok @Thistimeplease… hang in there for tonight… do all the comforting things, eat, hydrate and hit that pillow sober tonight and come back tomorrow, hugs xx
It is a thing. It is supposed to help increase engagement while making sure bots cannot spam the forum. It doesn’t take long until new members have more abilities to post, and then the more you engage, the more time you have.
Also, they can still read posts, so sharing emcouragement, as you have done, is a plus!!
Keep reading around on here @Thistimeplease, it’ll definitely help you, rest or if needed do something to distract overwhelming feelings away. There’s always 24hr zoom meetings on line that could help you through aswell. Stay strong, sending hugs and positive vibes to you ![]()
You might not be able to post but you can read. Use the
in the top right corner to search for topics (PAWS, family issues, memes, cute animals). Do whatever you have to do to put a sober head on your pillow tonight. That is all the win you need this early.
You just have to keep trying. I’m going on my second week. I am going through the worst anxiety and sleep issues
How are you doing today? @Thistimeplease
Thank you everyone for all of the messages. Day two is here and I am feeing pretty low if i am honest. Still lying in bed and I keep coming back to the thought of “is there really any point in me being here”
I live on my own. Have only been honest with two people in the real world about what’s going on. I have lied to the rest including work.
I am stuck in a place where I am not happy. The alcohol helped to numb this sometimes but overall it just became a magnifying glass to everything that I am struggling with.
I help others for a living and I am told im really goood at it. They would think I was a fraud if they were able to see me now.
Sorry for being so negative. I am beyond grateful to everyone of you who has reached out and shared experience, support and love.
The anxiety is awful and I think not being able to sleep can feel like torture.
Are you getting support? Sometimes if I can’t talk to anyone i write things down and that helps. I am going to try that this morning.
Two weeks is a huge achievement. I hope you are proud of yourself and can treat yourself to something nice today.
Its funny…when i first got sober i knew i wasnt happy in my life infact i had completely lost who i was but along my sobriety journey i began to get her back…it might seem today like theres no point in being here but i think if you stay on this track, take things one day at a time youll find out that actualy you have alot to build on and alot of worth in this world and to yourself, start with staying sober and concentrate only on that for now and i think youl find that things will naturally change in the future xx
Thank you ![]()
I am going to do my best one hour at a time. If my best is sitting with a coffee and watching tv I will accept that. I am proud to be on day two. I just want to stay on this positive journey more than anything xx
Thats the spirit! Your doing great!! Get some yummy breakfast ![]()
I am glad you are here and congratulations on making it to day two.
My situation sounds similar to yours. I live on my own, am neither married nor do I have children. I used to think I had no reason to fight against the addiction because noone counted on me being sober. For years I numbed my situations with alcohol and became more and more unhappy. It was my therapist at the time who said she’ll discontinue sessions if I kept choosing alcohol over facing actual change. There is no getting better if you don’t start taking action. Truth be told that was not what I wanted to hear! But I complied and made an effort.
Almost five years later I can definately say I am grateful for her kick in the butt. I feel much better and more in control of my choices. I learned to take myself serious enough to want better for myself. I am still single and still live on my own, but I have a range of tools to deal with sadness, loneliness and frustrations in everyday life.
Just wanted to say - hang in there. It’s worth it!! ![]()
It’s
I’m going to echo again what Kelly has said because that was 100% the same for me. As your days build up everything will become clearer for you for sure. The main thing right now is you’re on day 2, thats amazing anc you should definitely be proud ![]()
Struggling with being on my own is definitely a factor. Most of the time I am ok but then I am not and out comes the unhelpful coping mechanism.
I would love to know what has worked for you.
I already feel less alone from finding this wonder place yesterday.
Thank you Janie. The more I am thinking about it, the more I see that I have not been looking after myself. When times have gotten hard, I have numbed instead of giving myself the grace of love and understanding. Today I will be kind to myself.
I found Allen Carrs easy way to stop drinking really helped me in my very early days to shift my mindset around drinking, infact it changed how i viewed it forever, i laid in my bed and listened to it rather than read it, it was easier at the time
