today was the last daily fluid vet appointment. it stresses him too much allthough it’s just a 5 min. drive, we cut back to once a week.
signs increase, that it won’t be long anymore to say goodbye. his old body is weak and his kidneys will stop working some day.
he gets all the mama time he wants and I’m grateful for every day. We will know when it’s time to put him to sleep. The price of loving our pets, grieving in advance.

I hate having a pet put to sleep with a vengeance.

I always feel like I’ve somehow let them down, but I or both of us have always been there to the bitter, bitter end and I pray to the God’s that being there for them made it easier for them to bow out.
The only one that hasn’t had ‘death by vet’, was a fantastic cat called Mr D who died in my arms aged 24.
He just went to sleep. He’s buried in our garden with a sleeping cat statue marking the spot.

I know that when a pets body gives up the ghost, it is the kindness thing you can do. KT was 16 when she had lymphoma cancer.
We did everything we could do for her, chemo and radiotherapy and she battled on, but at the end I could see it in her eyes, “Dad I’ve had enough of this shit” so we let her go.
We’ve got the ashes of all our past companions; they serve as a reminder to make the most of the time you have with them; you can’t cuddle an urn.

So far I’ve said my goodbyes to 5 dogz and 9 catz. At the mo I’ve got 2 dogz and 4 catz and I’m dreading the end games.
