Hi  @SoberHappyJessi!

Love your gorgeous calico girls ‘Luna’ and ‘Stella’:heart:

I also have a calico called ‘Daisy’ who makes appearances on this thread.
I am fascinated by the genetics associated with this colour combo, but l must admit, l don’t really understand it all.
It confuses me!
Do you know much about them? I was told by a vet that Daisy was a ‘Tortoiseshell’ and didn’t realise she was a calico till a couple of years later.
I noticed that @Jesile and @Alisa also have calicos :heart:

Apparently 99% of calicos are girls!
Only 1 in every 3000 calicos are male!
Most male calicos are sterile!

I used to have a tortoiseshell, I know them by the name of Carey. Her name was Sky, 16 years purring but my side! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: May she RIP.
Toffee is a calico, little grumpy ex-street cat calico… but I guess deep down she’s has a good heart! :see_no_evil::laughing:

It’s like they have no concept of their size or body shape!
…or else they just really don’t care!

Wouldn’t it be nice to be so confident!!

Aaw, you never forget them, do you!

Had to look up ‘Carey’. Never heard that name used to describe calicos, but you are right!

Your fur baby is a longhair right? It’s a girl?

So sweet.

My Kiara (Pumpkin) is a very unique usual calico - I think it’s called a pastel calico. She’s mostly white and the markings are predominantly down the centre of her back. It’s like she was standing up and artist just threw some “splodges” from. above.

She was part of a grey and white litter. SIX of them in total,

but she’s the odd one out. The mom was grey and white, I have seen her pic, so I can only assume she’s got dads genes but male calico’s are very scarce and mostly sterile 🤷‍♀ I adopted her and one of her sisters (grey and white) from a foster mom. They were rescue’s. Can’t believe it but they are 4 years old this month.

I don’t have grand children, so these are my baby girls.

Yes, pretty long hair! :grimacing:
And yes, she’s a girl. As you already said, 99% of them are, I’ve heard. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Just read up on your ‘pastel’ calico kitty! They are also known as ‘dilute’ calicos-apparently very sought after, can be quite expensive and considered very lucky in some cultures!!

Very pretty! :heart_eyes::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
