Why are storms on trigger?

Hello everyone, has anybody else have the urge to drink when you know you’re gonna be on lockdown for a massive storm? I am over a year and a half sober. I can’t remember the last time I had an urge. But for whatever reason, this huge storm coming is making my mind wander there. Anybody else experience this? I’m not going to give in, but I just want to see if this is something that only I go through because this is the second time I remember getting weak during a big storm

My guess is because it’s associated with what you used to do during a big storm. You haven’t had as many big storms as other things you use to associate drinking with so you’ve had less practice at doing it sober. Just a guess though! congratulations on over a year and a half of sobriety!

Personally, I got to the point last winter, where I looked forward to knowing I wouldn’t be able to leave the house a few days. That way I’d finish whatever I had and then wouldn’t be able to get to the store for more, so I was forcibly sober, which was a nice break.

I used to pop pack the fridge tight so I wouldn’t have to leave

I was the type that had to hit up the liquor store daily. There was no stocking up for me. If it was in my possession, it got drank until it was gone. One of my ways of ‘controlling’ myself
