Why do I NEED to drink after being sober for 80 days??? It’s taking over.
All I can think about is how to get a drink without anyone knowing.
There. That’s my darkest secret.

Im glad you are reaching out here. Cravings suck but i say ride the crave (like a wave) it comes on strong but it always leaves. Hold on. Can you distract yourslef?
Maybe you don’t need a drink. Maybe you want a drink. I’d love one at 1002 days sober but I know it’ll turn to 15 and 2 weeks later, I’ll lose everything important to me. It just doesn’t work for me anymore. Wish it did and that’s okay.
I am glad you posted.
For over 30 years, I never made it past 90 days. It always grabbed me tight enough and said “all the right things” to make me drink one, which was never one.
Look around and find all the ways that people use that time to shut up that voice. Mine has a name. I don’t like her. She doesn’t talk to me much anymore but I am at 945 days.
Welcome to awesome support. Spend time here everyday. Reach out and share.

Our secrets keep us sick, so that’s awesome you shared!
You really don’t NEED a drink. You’ve proven many days in a row that you can go without it. It’s your addiction, trying to pull you back into the depths of hell.
Do whatever it takes to end your day sober today, and then do it again each day. You’re worth a sober life. ![]()
I hope you can find something that can keep you busy and occupied like a hobby. Books, podcasts, puzzles, a walk, are all great things that can make you forget about that drink you think you need. Also coming on here and hearing everyone else’s advice really helps! Stay strong! Keep that clock going!
This whole thread, up to this point, has been food for my soul…
I needed to hear every single word. Thank you each one.
And, thank you @ColoradoMama for sharing what was going on inside. I know that feeling of NEED very well, and I’m upheld by knowing that I’m not the only one.
We are all rowing this boat together!
Forged behaviors that cause a chemical imbalance
Your planning a drink without someone knowing. Thats usually not going to be reality
Ask yourself if the hell it already brought is worth it
Then
Think what it will cause
Ya know.. if you dont drink, you dont relaps
Sobriety is better
