I’ll have 6 1/2 months this Christmas!!! WOOOO HOOO! I will be sober on New Years for the first time since I was probably like fourteen years old LOL 2021, I will be 50 years old so I am going to be healthy and happy this next year!!!
So now you have to answer your own questions

2020 went so fast!
I didn’t grow up with Christmas celebration and still have no feelings for that time of year. But I guess I’ll go to friends, same goes for new years eve. At that time I will be over 3 months alcohol free! Looking forward to that  I was sober before during the holidays, but never got to more than 90 days in total.
In the Netherlands we don’t really have snow, but a lot of rain, so winter is somewhat depressing :grimacing: Hopefully I started my course at work to keep me occupied!
How about you, @Truckinmonster21?

It will be my third Christmas and New year sober.
I don’t do Christmas, too hyped and commercial for my liking.
A few pressies for the kids and the beautiful lady who is my wife. Quiet lunch just the four of us. That way we don’t have any of the stress that other people complain about.
That’s the bit I don’t get, if it stresses people out, why do it?
Still. I’m looking forward to getting in the mountains in winter. Should be fun.

With the borders closed I won’t be able to see my parents and other family-members, so I will stay at home with my “little family”. It probably will be very cozy this way without the travelling and such. New Year seems so far, that I haven’t even realized 2020 will ever be over.

I LOVE this time of year! Autumn/winter. This year though I am a little trepidant because of Covid and the awful risk the colder weather brings but trying to not let it get me down too much :grimacing:. This will be my SECOND sober Christmas and New Year so I’m loads more chilled out about getting through it. We just relax at Christmas in our house a bit like @anon12657779. few pressies and a nice lunch, then movies and not forgetting the queens speech…(should be a belter this year ) for any of you guys that are worrying about the impending silly season…I want to let you know…it can be done without any of the angst! With a little preparation and forethought it really isn’t bad at all…I PROMISE ! Infact, it’s better!(For the bakers amongst us)…Last year we had a discussion about weather or not we would make our Xmas cake with booze. There was some great responses, (because this was a drama for me lol.) Hope you all have a lovely winter and what ever happens I look forward to spending my time with you lovely lot! :pray:t2::two_hearts:

Oh wow! My antipodean friend you are entering my favourite season, spring. It is getting quite autumnal here in England in the temperate northern hemisphere. :maple_leaf::fallen_leaf::sun_behind_large_cloud:

I love this time of year; all the changing colours and cooler air. Sweater & boots weather! Snow will soon be falling here :canada: I love the snow, especially when it’s freshly falling and not super windy. I love snowshoeing. But I have a fairly long commute to work on rural roads through highlands, so that part definitely sucks and can be downright scary. Some pretty nasty drives. I love Christmas too but more so for the coziness, quiet, the lights of the tree, nostalgic music from my childhood. It’s bittersweet though, having lost both my parents. I also don’t like parties/socializing so I tend to just stick at home with little guy. Hubby can go party if he likes. Besides when pregnant/nursing, last year was my first sober Christmas season thanks to a lovely group of sober friends from TS. Hoping I can do the same this year despite breaking my streak since then. The not socializing really helped. Although supper with the MIL made it challenging lol

I’m in one hand looking forward to this winter, I put my deposit down for my camper van. So I know me and the dog will be somewhere new, hopefully a mountain covered in snow, defiantly getting a lightweight tent so we can camp up a mountain on my travels.

There is also the part I’m not looking forward to which will be me being on my own at Christmas and I don’t know whether to book a holiday over this period just so I can be in some hot place not thinking really about the holiday however the pandemic is making me cautous on booking in case it gets cancelled!

I’m in Eastbourn on the Souith coast at the moment with the hills of the South Downs national park behind me and the English Channel in front. I’m not so much of a townie but I grew up in Epping, which although semi-rural is on the edge of Greater London. I lived in London for three years when I was a student (South Kensington and near Tottenham Court Road).
I have never been to Australia (too many drop bears) but I hope to one day. :koala::smiley:

When I was a student I was in a hall of residence in London with a guy called Petros from Athens. We had a big snowstorm when we were at Oxford Circus and he was really excited as he had never seen snow before, he was like a little child :snowman_with_snow::snowman:

Love this post!! I’m not so much of a winter lover but I do have goals for the new year. I’d like to be at least 1 month clean and sober by Xmas. I’d like to be clean and sober for my bday on Dec 03 too. For the new year I’d like to continue with my sobriety and work on my weight. I’d like to get caught up on my bills also and gain some financial stability
